When do people think life will go back 100% to how it was pre pandemic. No masks, everything normal, nobody thinking of covid like it was with the flu.. nightclubs full etc
According to HSPC figures, DekotaDans are a little off.

The big mistake was staying locked down summer 2020 and presenting it as a series of 2,3,6-week "reviews", when the actual agenda (if there was one at all) was to have lockdown until vaccines arrived. It all just looked like the usual Irish political paralysis of saying one thing and doing another nothing. Publishing that elaborate Living with Covid plan and then going back on it almost immediately was the point I stopped paying any attention to what the government said.
No wonder that people assumed the actual science was just another piece of BS.
We already eradicated majority of vulnerable elderly when we shipped them off to the nursing houses when this pretending of doing something started.
All what happened subsequently was looking for excuses why it was needed because "what if models" and more pretending.
I do not think SARS played any major role with Asian people going around with masks on. That was mostly urban phenomena in observation long time before SARS and was due to pollution. These masks are quite efficient at filtering smog out.
I guess you do not watch RT and listen to like newstalk?
RT is a Russian anti-western propaganda front
I do, what hysteria are you referring to? I’ve never seen it.
Would you kindly pointed me to where he identified himself as "freeman of the country" or whatever you meant by it. Because from what I see it came from your head where in one post you said "it has bang of freeman stuff" in the next one you put that label firmly on him and then you went on pretending like he said it himself.
So forgive me but debate with people like you is to say the least quite problematic when you start fantasizing about what other people think.
I’m sorry, this **** new site doesn’t allow for parts of posts to be quoted, but he/she posted earlier that it was his/her right to refuse to wear masks on the Dart because it infringed on his freedom, this poster believes he/she is not bound by legislation and anyone who says he should, will be told to F off. You can go back and read the two posts yourself.
This “freedom” muck is the type spouted by Mearddu, Gemma O’Doherty and Margaret Buttimer to Judges recently and got short shrift.
Here is what McGarnigle2020 posted:
“Only two people ever challenged me. They were told where to go. Their belief in fairy tales does not trump my right to freedom”
“I have every right to refuse to conform to "public health measures" that have their basis in pseudoscientific quackery that were drafted under the guise of preventing spread of an almost always utterly benign virus”
The first sentence of your post answers patnor1101’s question at least.
I would say 35 pregnant women in ICU with Covid, particularly with difficulty treating them is sobering, wouldn’t you? That would be a disproportionate number for age group and pregnancy status.
You know your losing when you have to bring the nazis in to support your argument
No, I would not say that 35 is a particularly high figure. There were nearly 56,000 births in Ireland in 2020, meaning that at any given time there are 42,000 pregnant women in Ireland. Just under 1% of the population are currently pregnant, meaning that in an average week roughly 300 odd pregnant women would contract Covid (seeing as we get around upwards of 30,000 cases per week at the minute) Less than 1 per thousand pregnant women ended up in ICU. Less than one woman per week.
That is in no way shape or form a shocking statistic.
What is shocking is charlatans pimping a vaccine as safe for pregnant women when the effects of vaccine exposure to a foetus will not become fully apparent until the latter stages of this decade.
On the lies front, anybody else recall when Tomas Ryan pulled a theory out of his arse that Covid exposure during pregnancy could cause autism?
Given the oldest, at the time he made the statement, Covid exposed pre birth baby was only 1 year old, how he came up with that one we will never quite know.
Losing?
Can you outline, in all honesty, why I should trust NPHET, the government and certain doctors who, as shown above, have been exposed for having made up stories, cooked statistics and generally exaggerated risk and threat?
If you applied 1/1000 proportionate to the general population, that would be 5000 in ICU. I hope that puts it into context for you. I am not confident though.
in addition, pandering to vested interests also... not having the balls to say... “ no sorry, it’s a team effort and everyone is expected to do everything decreed and necessary....”
Business community, mental health quangos should have all been taken by the scruff of the fückin neck and informed.. ‘do your bit or else...’
the leadership from the outset needed to rally around the ‘team wellness’ theme...
but of course the farce is strong with the business community as it always has been in this country... they rally around the wellness of their own bank balances and fûck anybody else... even in a deadly pandemic...
Yes 'belief' isn't quite the right word but it is easy to have a bias based on our beliefs and opinions and how we think things should be and should not be.
Alot of people who dislike Tony Holohan probably do so because he has become symbolic for something which is dreadful, a pandemic and how it curtails out lives. So NPHET will make a recommendation and straight away you have "they are gobshìtes..they told us x y and z would happen...now look etc". Sure I've done it myself.
The opposite of that is being in full agreement with NPHET and the CMO because it suits. Its aligned with your opinions and how you think things should be done.
Its hard to look upon the people making not nice decisions objectively.
For me I am not a fan of NPHET but I certainly don't believe they are clueless or lying to us or recommend just for the craic.
Anyways what was my point in my original question to you....I don't know anymore. An attempt to understand maybe because you seem angry a lot of the time and there all these groups of people who annoy you.
Businesses, mental health orgs, parents, every person not doing what you think they should be doing. There's no point in getting in a heap over such things because your frustration won't change things, just your capacity to be happy.
It will never be 100% the way it was pre Covid-19. Some people will continue to wear masks each winter in public for example. Many will continue to work from home.
If the business community really was as strong as you are hinting at, things would have been allowed to open up a lot more as they were over in the UK. All they actually got was the botched xmas opening.
Nonsense. The interests of NPHET are not of Covid related public health. They are of a belief that public health in Ireland can be changed by permanently altering our relationship with pubs and nightclubs. They have used this as a once in a lifetime opportunity. Show me a single country in Europe that had anything resembling our treatment of alcohol venues.
No other country did either of the above because there was no scientific basis for it. Why am I expected to listen to liars who make decisions based on pseudoscientific quackery?
You think NPHET have a personal vendetta against the hospitality sector and want to alter the way Irish people go to the Pub, permanently? That sounds a bit paranoid/quacky.
I know I am going to regret this, but have you any scientific proof of this?
While I do agree with you on the €9 meal policy, that was daft. I suspect bars threw out mountains of food. But the rationale was to limit the number of people entering pubs, particularly young people who would probably not stay seated during their visit. Whether you care to admit it, the policy seemed to work and kept Covid cases down, before vaccination numbers were high enough to make the policy un-necessary.
And you don’t have to listen to them, just ignore the experts/scientists, but don’t go thinking that just because you don’t like the rules, they don’t apply to you.
They have a warped sense of what would improve the health of the nation.
Their bans on all outdoor sports for as long as they did it was shameful, easy to see none of them have ever taken part in any sporting activities.
It isn't just the doctors telling fibs. Back around Feb or March 2021, Eamon Dunphy had a journalist named Philip O'Connor on his podcast. O'Connor is a Stockholm based raging leftie who appears in the Irish media the odd time to give his two pence on any newsworthy event that happens in Sweden (given most internationally newsworthy events in Sweden have involved terrorism and other ethnic crime he's a strange choice, but anyway).
In March O'Connor claimed that the wheels were coming off Swedish society, their hands off approach had been an absolute disaster, the public were ready to hang Anders Tegnell from a lamp post, the place was basically descending into chaos.
Of course, as we all know, Sweden has sometimes experienced spikes when their neighbours have been doing OK, yet 18 months in things have largely evened out, it is no chaotic outlier, and is currently reporting rock bottom numbers.
I asked Phil on Twitter if he would go back on Dunphy's show and explain why none of the scutter he blathered on about ever happened, why did Sweden not collapse, if he would concede that they handled the crisis calm and rationally.
He blocked me, naturally.
Honestly it sounds like you're too far gone so anything I would say would fall on deaf ears so why would I waste my time?
Deaf ears?
You still haven't responded to the biggest takeaway from all of this. Of the 5500 odd "Covid deaths", only circa 500 of these people would still be with us if Covid did not exist. Virtually every last one of the other 5000 Covid deaths would currently be deceased regardless. That is a fact that nobody in the media is willing to make clear. If you are a reasonably healthy person in your 70s and 80s it is quite unlikely you will die if you catch Covid, yet NPHET has thousands of these people living in permanent terror that they'll catch it from the postman.
What scientific proof are you basing this on?
Of the 5500 odd "Covid deaths", only circa 500 of these people would still be with us if Covid did not exist.
Thank you for those numbers. Now I'm going to ask you to provide evidence to back this up. Not wishy washy nonsense, actual evidence to back up your above statement showing a breakdown of actual mortality rates versus covid mortality rates.
Or admit you made it up.
I'll take either to be honest
We def will be back to normal in 2 or 3 years time. Fair enough people will wear masks and they may be mandatory in certain situations e.g. healthcare. I think some people will work from home but that will be by choice. I think life otherwise will be fairly similar to 2019. We have have detrimental pandemics before this, the 1959 Hong Kong flu killed 2m worldwide (with a lower popn than now) and most people never heard of it. We will be fine.
The vaccine is more dangerous to teenage boys than Covid itself is.
#factsnotfeelings
Are you going to provide any evidence to back up your earlier claim re covid mortality or did you just make it up?
By any chance did you read the very important notice at the top of the pages of that “study”? Are you relying on right wing clown shows run by John McGuirk for your “science”?
Considering your statements about pseudoscience, quackery and false statements given to the public, I too would like you to show where you got the figures about false/true Covid deaths. Time to put up or shut up.
