"Children aged over 12 will have to follow the same rules as adults."
Adults and Children aged 16+ will be eligible for a Booster so possible to have last vaccine within 9 months of next Summer and children under-12 are exempt. So it will just be children aged 12-15 who got their Vaccines last August/September etc who will definitely need negative tests for travel.

I am supposed to fly from Spain to Ireland tomorrow, and back on Tuesday - family issue.
Not sure if I could get stuck in Ireland, I have my Spanish driving licence so that should be enough to please the Stoßtruppen if they are stationed at dublin airport again...

Realistically with the common travel area it's difficult to implement any sort of check on the UK side seeing as you just walk out of the airport

I am due to fly to Uk next Thursday lunchtime , back Friday afternoon, suddenly sweating on what needs to be done if anything .
The initial release says “ must produce a negative PCR by end of day 2 arrival “ , but by the end of day 2 arrival in my case I’ll be back home in Dublin .

No it won’t. Britain has always recognised the CTA and allowed unencumbered (no test, no locator form) travel from Ireland, right from the darkest early days of the pandemic
Take the travel ban announced yesterday: the ban on arrivals into the UK from S Africa is for all non British AND Irish citizens. They treat the geographical block as one
With the open border with the 6 counties I can't see how it could include Ireland.
2 more Omicron cases in Germany. Waste of time putting flight bans in place. It doesn't work as we should know at this stage after nearly 2 years.
I'm flying through the UK in a few weeks, but I assume that these new tests don't apply, correct?

I’m due to go to London for work and the family were going to follow later for a weekend break. But the work event was an international conference, so this might be cancelled now!
Given everyone arriving from overseas, with the possible exception if Ireland, will need a PCR test within 2 days and must isolate until they get the result I would imagine it would take a big chunk out of the conference before anyone from outside the UK can attend
I'm due to be on a ferry over to Britain on Wednesday and was planning on being there for 8 days. Even if there are no restrictions for those from Ireland arriving in the Britain, there's a distinct chance Ireland could have further restrictions in place by the time I would be getting back

Still awaiting guidance isn't great, we're assuming they need to isolate and test because the gov.uk site has been updated with no mention of exemption under the CTA. Guess I'll report back tomorrow with their experience once they get home!
Just double checked and the CTA stuff is back on the gov.uk site. So I've no idea what's required yet!
It's only 2 and a half hours since the announcement. Hopefully their website will be updated before too long. I would imagine though that the likes of RTE will be trying to find out asap

That's €120 *8 PCR tests = €960
Thats more than double the cost of the flights, what a racket ...
Why would it be inevitable ? It was UK policy to have a PCR long after the EU cert came in so I wouldn't say it's inevitable at all.
Also even if you did need PCR, they aren't 120 quid in Ireland
I moved my trip to America from January to next weekend recently thinking that more travel restrictions were coming down the pipeline - just have to wait and see what happens I suppose.
