I'm not saying having measles would give you immunity from Covid. You think it might?
Considering the availability of vaccines now, that’s about as sensible as saying you’ll pass on a Big Mac to the person who needs it more.
You are very lucky you were not living in the 19th century. The world effectively eradicated lethal diseases like smallpox through vaccination.
Jesus Christ. Your immunity to measles is exactly the same as my vaccinated immunity except I never passed the virus on to other people and risked killing them or leaving them dead or brain damaged in the process
Typo. Less than 1 in 300.
The vast, vast majority of those people were on death's door.
The trade off in missed cancer treatments, suicides and stress related deaths (strokes, heart attacks) in relatively young people, not to mention the amount of older people whose bodies simply gave up amid the depression of isolation during the lockdowns, far outweigh any of your scary Covid death figures pal.
Pretty much everyone who supports lockdowns never had a life to begin with. It became apparent to me how many older people would rather die than live Lockdown 2 in the same manner they lived Lockdown 1- in November you saw the same amount of old people out and about with their young grandkids as you would in a normal year. Lockdown 1 had made them realise they would rather risk catching the thing off their grandchildren than isolating themselves from them for God knows how long. Most people above a certain age are fully aware they could be dead in a week and thus tend to take a come what may attitude to life.
hope the government continue to keep jackasses like you outside pubs and resturants.. think your a great fella
You’re a coward because you’re scared to take a vaccine. What are you afraid of?
why should we believe you?
Nope, they are two different diseases, both of which can kill people.
One has a vaccine which had been tested over many, many years. One has a vaccine for which longitudinally testing has only just started.
Likely that both viruses are spread in very similar ways.
If we are looking for vaccine-certs for one, we should be looking for both.
I think I only passed it on to two or three immediate family members, so it was okay.
The thing about that is though they really don't know, it is only an educated guess that it might work out that way. If it does great but we shouldn't be getting ahead of ourselves by thinking that a prediction is going to be the truth.
So people choosing to wear masks are "gimps"
Comments like that have no place in a reasonable debate.
I have no problem with different ideas but when it descends to puerile name calling that is a different story. Posts like this ruin any chance of a proper discussion.
That's even worse. That's 333 people your condemning. Just stop talking seriously!
I suspect that many of the apparent anti-vax posts are posts by wind-up merchants who are getting a kick out of people’s reactions. Strange thing to get a kick out of but perhaps we are all bigger fools to be reacting.
Lots of knuckle dragging around these parts.
Get the vaccine and help protect the vulnerable people in our society. It has very little to do with your own self centredness.
You’ve answered my question, and yet you seem to understand that they are very different.
In a fully vaccinated society Covid will kill about as many people as winter flu. Why do we not shut society every winter?
Given that no society is yet fully vaccinated, how on earth do you have the data to come to this conclusion? Did you just make this up?
And who did they pass it on to?
you haven’t got a clue, you think you’re ok because you passed a potentially deadly disease on to 2 or 3 other people?
do you not understand how geometric progression works?
Measles is a very contagious illness that can seriously injure or kill very young children.
Covid has already killed 4.3 million people worldwide and there are new variants emerging that are both more deadly and more infectious. Your kind of irrational fear of these vaccines is the biggest barrier to getting on top of this pandemic
I know of no one like that. Nor have I heard of any single connected case like that from anyone else.
Does my anecdotal evidence cancel yours out?
No doubt they suffered no long term effects, but like Covid, the reason people get vaccinated against measles is due to the risk to the vulnerable, your attitude may not be so flippant if one of the people you infected was a pregnant unvaccinated woman.
99% sure that this is a wind-up merchant.

Imagine how that guy would feel if one or both of his parents died from catching covid off him, because he was too lazy and selfish not to get it.
Part of the laissez faire attitude to Covid is because for people who work, who have put blood sweat and tears into their business, for people who enjoy socialising, for all of those, frankly, dying would have been a better option than what we have lived with the last 18 months. And it's a situation that nobody, not one member of our government, has promised will be lifted, nobody has promised that life will ever entirely return to pre Covid normality.
Detetction of winter flu for 2020/21 was below the baseline threshold of 18.1/100,000, that is compared to your corrected ~333/100,000.
Why would it? Society is constantly changing in response to events.
his parents are likely vaccinated no? So the risk to them is minimal.
or have we gone back in time?
One thing i don't get. How is me taking the vaccine good for anyone but me ? I can still get it and pass it on to others but ill be imune.
I am shlt sick of all the scare mongering to be honest. I understand alot of what we were put through was a nessesity but the young people of ireland put their lives on hold for 2 years nearly and will be paying for it finacially for decades. Yet they were never really at substantial risk. ( ok a few were but no more than sie driving annually ). i say this as a near 50 year old whos been vaccinated for months!
We have let our already nanny state be ruled by egomanic cohort of medics - young folks should get the vaccine and then go and riot in the streets for whats be done to them!
There has been deaths from covid in fully vaccinated people.
