I think it's more like the dot com bubble where most web companies went bust because they were overvalued however companies like Amazon and Ebay took a big hit but survived and made a come back.

There are far too many cryptocurrencies and every one of them over valued. There will be a massive crash all coins will be hit hard but a very small number will survive because blockchain technology does have many possible uses.
Of course just a complete guess on my part.

Its not the coins themselves, its how they are being used. Right now, the idea that coin x is worth a equivalent of fiat currency y right now and will be worth 100 times its value in 6 months is quite literally a pyramid scheme.

There is usually a boom, then bust then price stabilisation. Crypto has been a bot different has we have had that already and now there's a second boom period straight after it.

Been looking like a slow bust phase now. Bitcoin dropping, Ethereum starting to enter what looks like a lag phase before the bust (ehtereum last time was a little behind bitcoin) and ****coins like dogecoin are dropping fast.

It will crash, the price will stabilise but if you are brave there is (or maybe was) a lot of money to be made.

It should stabilize to a level justified by the actual transactions done with crypto, i.e. actual goods and services, no mater how legal they are. Which I suspect it's just a tiny fraction of their ... "capitalization".

It has probably been long enough now, but has anyone here taken delivery of any new gpus from overclockers recently? Especially now that overclockers have switched courier to DHL for Ireland and have refunded uk vat to let DHL then handle IE Vat?

EVGA Europe will probably be the closest option to a pre-order. If the product page doest exist keep an eye out for it to appear. Once the product page goes up register you interest in it. On a first come first serve basis when in stock they will email you a unique purchase link , you'll have 8 hours to buy once the link is sent, otherwise it will expire and on to the next person. The email address used must be associated with an active EVGA account , one card pre household only.

I say first come first serve but I've no idea if they are serving individual markets first and sending links to those in the target region.

I'm registered with them and put my name down for a few different models. If and when the purchase invite appears is another thing but of all the manufacturer out there EVGA appear to have made the best efforts to help the average consumer in getting a card.

I know, I'm registered with them a few years now myself, I used their components when I was a more active builder. I think they're taking care of the US Market first

Some of the US based youtubers have given them lots of praise for their efforts. I registered interest for some of their GPU's when I decided to do my builds a few months back, not holding my breath for a purchase. Anyway I'm happy enough with the RX6700XT I got on Thursday's AMD drop.

Same as you-5 cards on notify, earliest was last Sept. for a 3080 XC3. About 20 on the list for the last 2 months, unfortunately the EU waiting list gets little or no love compared to the US. 3060's seem to be the only cards moving ATM.

I gave up and bought a pre-built with a 3080 from Ankermann Germany 10 days ago, out for delivery tomorrow, first PC (excluding laptops) I haven't built myself in 14 years:(

Took a chance and emailed alternate.de about a 3070 & 3080 they had marked as being due into stock soon. To be fair they emailed me back stating both were in stock and they could sell me either. Cant fault the service even if the price is crazy.

So now I have a fairly expensive 3080 on the way to me. Still cheaper than paying the insane prices on Adverts.

Record a video whilst opening the package. I bought an evga card from them, got a box with cut seals. I wouldn't trust alternate any longer especially if they sell to you before its made available online, most places wouldn't do that to be fair to other customers waiting for the stock to show up. Of course I could be wrong but record a video just in case they send you an obviously used card.

Cheers thanks for the heads up. Will be extra careful opening it so.

Their website seems a bit weird where they have some items flagged in green saying "goods just arrived will be ready for dispatch shortly".

Seems like they have quite a few coming into stock every day so perhaps worth a shot if people are as desperate as me. Annoyed I didnt buy one back in Nov / Dec!

Yeah theres a good chance of getting a card from there compared to other places, was just very annoyed to pay way over rrp and get a box that was already opened. Its just the principle of it...buy a new card, box should be sealed unless specified as an open box item. If desperate for a card most people wont care if used or not. But I do wonder if some of these stores have been running cards mining for a few weeks/months then selling to maximize profit. You never know what they could be up to.

Same thing - been on the "queue" for a bunch of their 3090 SKU for 6 months now, not a single mail received - and theoretically, the 3090 should be a "less sought after" card as it's expensive even at MSRP.

I'm tempted by the fact they got some 3090s, although at insane prices - but still better than paying some asshole scalper on Adverts (there's one guy specifically who's clearly making a business of this...hope he's telling the Revenue about it

Thing is...I pretty much have an entire second system that's still top spec (R9 3900x, Samsung 960Evo 500GB, 32GB 3200Mhz) to which I could THEORETICALLY bundle my current 2070 Super and which THEORETICALLY should fetch a good price on sale; Yet going by previous experiences selling on Adverts...the stories about "would you exchange that with an open can of Pringles and a used condom?" are only mildly exaggerated, let's say

Anyway, also keeping an eye out for the "supposedly close to launch" A4000 and A5000, which could solve my need (more than 8GB of VRAM and CUDA cores) neatly (ALL the Quadro cards are still pretty much MSRP).

Ive been trying to get a 3070 or 3080 for a while and I've noticed theres a lack of stock of both coming in, I hope its just with the impending launch of the Ti variants

Word is that the 3060, 3070, and 3080 are getting replaced with updated variants that have crypto limiter. So stocks of the original versions are probably not being replenished since the new ones are coming.

Those cards are already fully valued on the 2nd hand market from a mining perspective. I'd expect the new cards to trade at a discount 2nd hand compared to the originals, given that the current 2nd hand prices are being set by miners.
