So, if my crude understanding is correct (and I know the numbers change constantly), that's c2.2m doses of Pfizer in Q2, equating to 1.1m people. Plus 600k doses of J&J in Q2, giving us a total of 1.7m people in Q2 vaccinated with either Pfizer or J&J ? Plus a smattering of Moderna and whatever AZ throw in the mix ?

Crazy (and a bit depressing) how things have changed. In December and January there were innumerable "Pfizer is just a start for certain groups, once AZ gets approved it'll be the game changer and cover most of the population quickly" comments.

Yet here we are 3 months later and 2 months after AZ approval and Pfizer has still done all the heavy lifting and will do for the foreseeable future.

There was a GP on with Rachel English on Morning Ireland and I thought he spoke very well and certainly would allay any fears someone might have about taking the AstraZeneca vaccine. He was to the point and balanced.

Might be a risk factor that is being vaccinated for in Norway that aren't being vaccinated for elsewhere.

Possibly, but the existing vaccines will have been trialed on younger age groups by then and with most of the adult population vaccinated and hopefully not transmitting it around its not going to be able to get as far among the younger population. Kids aren't travelling huge distances on their own every day and have far less spread out social circles. Maybe you need to do testing before inter school sports competitions happen, but if adults aren't transmitting it around the country/ world at that point then kids aren't going to be either. Becomes a lot more manageable if all adults are breaks in the chain of transmission.

Gotta say that's irresponsible and hopefully one that will come back to bite her very hard. Late 2021 is very optimistic, more like next year.

New Finnish company looking to develop a nasal vaccine, very early days as they are now seeking funding for clinical trials to start quite soon.

The spin-out from the Universities of Helsinki and Eastern Finland will leverage years of research to test and bring to market a nasal spray vaccine against COVID-19.

Just after taking the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine this morning (not in Ireland). Apart from a slightly sore arm, no side effects. Second shot due on April 6th.

I don’t know why but it drives me mad seeing dose 1 going up in cohort 1 & 2.

I heard initially we had 90,000 in cohort 1 inc staff and 120,000 in cohort 2.

Obviously these are the priority, I just wish we knew the total. I think I heard last week that dose 1 should be done in cohort 1 last week.

Help those who can't or won't help themselves.

It's in their interest as well economically to do so, and in the interests of the 3rd world as well.
