Today being Paddy Day 2020... when do you think we will have a ‘flu jab’ / pill / syrup that we can take to make us immune/ les likely to catch this 19 virus?.

Mod: The purpose of this thread is baked into the title - COVID-19: Vaccine/antidote and testing procedures - it's not a platform to push an anti vaccination agenda. This is fast becoming my favourite thread on boards - great place for updates and the anti social lockdown merchants seem to be occupied elsewhere.

Best thread on COVID by a country mile. Very informative, usually quite positive and only the odd misery/lockdown/antivax merchant (who usually get bored after a few posts and head back to the main thread).

Knives to a gunfight. It's alarming though how I'll informed people are and a clear sign of lack of inciteful media coverage on it here. Media don't seem interested. UK media has been better but their industry has been a leader on this.
Let's just presume Micheal means that all of us won't be vaccinated by end of next year but most at risk hopefully will and restrictions in some form will remain.

It would be reckless for him to promise a vaccine, but don't worry, if one does arrive soon he'll be out there shouting about it as though he has personally developed it.

I have an antibody test done three months ago and it came back negative.
But I was told by two different doctors that immunity isn't in the antibodies only, but in the T cells too, so testing negative for IgG isn't a sign of vulnerability to the virus.

The success of trials depend on a certain portion of trial participants being exposed to the virus. Its why a lot of trials moved to south america earlier in the year - chasing infection. And success would be measured by the number of people experiencing symptoms being less than control, not if they test positive. If all the vaccine we to do was prevent serious infection, it is still worth having.
