They will probably get along fine as the amount of virus out there is very low now (and hopefully continues that trend), doesn't make them less stupid of course and the worst part is they will feel vindicated.

Expecting people to wear masks during an unprecedented, worldwide pandemic is not totalitarianism. It's a ridiculous thing to say, and you must have lived an awful sheltered life to view it as such.

It's a risk I'm willing to take, the same way I've done for my whole life when flu season comes around. I'm very unlikely to get sick and extremely unlikely to die from it.

But I thought masks only prevented people with the virus from spreading it to others? That means the people who wore the visors contracted it from the people wearing masks...

Masks help to limit the spread of covid-19, they are not a 100% foolproof block.

Or maybe you've lived a privileged life and don't know what it's like to go without anything as opposed to previous generations who actually know their history and what it's like to live in a world without an iPhone.

You don`t know that and even if you don`t get sick yourself are you OK with the strong likelihood of spreading the virus to someone who is vulnerable? Maybe even a family member or relative?

Hang on a sec, the whole argument for wearing the mask to prevent others from getting covid and that it doesn't protect you from getting covid but transmitting it to others. Maybe that's the case Kendrick Jolly Ibex, but how have you possibly gleaned that from anything I've said?

I was commenting on a poster saying that requiring masks during a pandemic is totalitarianism. That's a ridiculous thing to say.

Here we have people copycatting the worst sort of "freedom fighting" idiocy from a totally different country on the other side of the world. Cramped workplaces, house parties, household spread, care homes is where we've had our cases, the bulk of which would not involve masks.

Covid-19 is much more dangerous than the common flu; it's a novel disease, that nobody had any experience of prior to this year. More precautions make sense for this, due to the higher rate of death and serious complications.

However, it'd be no bad thing if people who think they have the flu in future (voluntarily) wore masks. Why would it be?

I would hope it would be considered a responsible mindset. You should try to adopt it yourself. You might be a better person for it.

Does not contradict anything I wrote. Most transmission is droplet based not aerosol, visors block droplets, therefore reducing spread. The original contention was they are useless, not that they are not perfect, and are probably as effective or even better than single layer cotton masks

You are not changing your mind but you are also talking nonsense. I use a proper double layer cloth face covering. It doesn’t make visors useless though. Aerosols are a tiny fraction of spread, and if we eliminated all spread except through aerosols we would be clear of the virus pretty quickly

A visor is great I agree but only if paired with a mask.

I'm not changing my mind because anyone saying a visor is a good substitute for a mask is still wrong.
