In the UK where masks are mandatory there are exemptions for those with medical reasons why they can't wear masks. You don't know why someone isn't wear a mask so rather than having a go, how about you mind your own business and just keep your distance?

Paddygreen wrote: » There should be a way to easily distinguish them then. An armband , pulsating led badge, lanyard with some indication on it or something. Your average Deco in a puffy jacket usually isn’t differently abled and that’s exactly the type of character that was hot stepping like an overgrown menacing pidgeon behind me the other day on my way home from Spar.
Overheal wrote: » That's exactly why shops should be strongly encouraged to accommodate those unable or unwilling to wear masks by serving them curbside. If you want to be indoors with others, wear the mask. I've said it before and I'll say it again, my fiance has POTS and chronic asthma, we live in South Carolina where the summer highs are in excess of 30 celsius with high humidity. We still wear the masks. I won't pretend the masks are an absolute delight to wear, but we still wear them. Outdoors we keep 10 ft or greater away from others so we can breathe in this stifling heat without the masks. Indoors (or in the Irish weather, which by heat and humidity is virtually the same or colder) it's quite tolerable. People shouldn't play these games with masks like they play with 'service dogs,' in both cases just put the mask on inside and near people and leave your pet at home, it's unfair to people who have the most dire and qualified needs for those exceptions to make light of or abuse those exceptions as convenient loopholes. Not saying you do, or anyone you are associated with does, but generally speaking we see a lot of that around, just assholes who want to be belligerent, just to make a political statement etc. or bring in their 'emotional support rotweiller' to **** on the shop floor that only forces shops to more scrutinizing against the blind etc. - the same type of folks applied to anti-masking ruin mask exemptions for the truly needy, driving more and more shops to (rightly) refuse entry to any and all non-mask wearers in deference to serving them outside.
witchgirl26 wrote: » What I'm trying to put out there is that there are some people who should be exempted from wearing masks based on medical reasons and that those people should not be shamed in public because they aren't wearing one. You don't know anyone's history or medical problems so mask-shaming should not be a thing. Shops are stretched enough as it is without getting them to provide additional services. A lot of them are doing click and collect already but they shouldn't be forced to provide curbside shopping too.

Look back on any thread from the height of the virus and it’s full of whingers about overcrowded shops, lack of social distancing etc. Like the queue to Beschoffs in Howth. But it’s the masks that are saving us nowadays.

The curve was flattened or whatever cliche you prefer without them and the numbers have remained steadily low for the last month - including before the kneejerk reaction of a flailing new government to make them mandatory in limited situations I'm tired of reading the fear mongering and personal attacks from people who can't see the wood from the trees. Mask up has become the new stay home and it's just as unnecessary for the majority of people. The worst part of all this is how people like yourself seem to be unable to recognise this as a good thing.
