Impossible for it to be higher risk to touch what is protecting you than to just inhale it.

The number of people really impacted by breathing difficulties is negligible... if they are so at risk of breathing difficulties should be isolating from the virus.

A simple ad on rte repeatedly showing how to use a mask (God almighty it hurts my face just thinking that people are so unbelievably stupid that they need it explained) would do a lot to stop the nose out brigade.
As for the freedom fighters out defending their right to risk infecting every oul wan and at risk person, well that's just stupid. Years ago you'd be called on it and told your wrong, simple. You are talking out your hole, where is the evidence that there has been zero community transmission in shops? Nobody knows where all the community transmission originate from but you are sure that none occurred in all the shops in Ireland. Good lad. It was so high cos they werent wearing masks. It dropped when wearing masks became general policy.

This is a respiratory virus. Primary method of imfection is not through surfaces.

Are they? How about some stats to back that up over the months that the policy was adopted.
Bearing in mind healthcare workers are operating in high risk settings, sustained close contact with infected patients and are tested more frequently than the general population.

And when you have provided that, explain how then you consider they getting infected and why masks has increased their risk and not reduced it.

The stats are there every day go check, it's easy hide behind the old chestnut show me the data. It allows you to dodge the question.
My theory and I'm seeing it every day is masks aren't being used correctly, we've had Leo demonstrate early on how not to wear them and he's an ex health care professional. I think a lot of people think they double as a chins straps.
There has been 0 guidelines on how to use them properly, clean them properly and dispose of them properly. I've taken 5 out of my garden in the last two weeks which I assume blew in.
Incorrect usage of any ppe not just masks is dangerous.
So either the ppe doesn't work, there not using it correctly or not using it at all.

I'm not saying masks don't help stop the transmission but there no solution if we're going to open up and head down the road of living beside the virus.
We need to eradicate it and every day we let the government away with not doing their part on the borders is another day we have to wear masks when it shouldn't be necessary with the proper checks in place.

You are the one dodging the question.
You made the claims about infections in health care workers and wearing of masks being more risky than not. Back it up. The point is not whether PPE make you 100% safe but whether their use is safer than not.
I linked my source about the drop in infections since mask policy changed.

Its an old chestnut cos its a defence mechanism against nonsense.
