Welcome to the Waterford GAA discussion thread.

This is consistently the most active thread don the GAA forum. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse of anyone be they other posters, players, managers, referees, pundits etc. Any personal abuse will result in an infraction or a ban.

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives. This should be self explanatory. Apart from being a dickish thing to do, it can lead to legal trouble for Boards.

- Trolling. Again, self explanatory. Trolls will be banned for a long time.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling. Do not call a troll out on thread as this will be considered back seat modding.

- Speculation into the identity of another poster. This is a site-bannable offence.

This list is not exhaustive. Either myself or another mod may add to this as we see fit. Just because a certain behaviour isn't listed, doesn't mean you can't be banned for it. The general Boards.ie rule of Don't be a Dick always applies.

If you feel a post breaks the rules, simply click this underneath the post in question to report the post and a mod will deal with it as they see fit.

So be civil to each other and happy posting.

Given that the thread regularly descending into tit for tat insults between posters, From now on, it won't be a card but a ban straight away for anything like this. The mod warning is clear in the first post but yet people still ignore it.
Also, I'd like to remind people of the ban on discussing players'/managers'/officials' private lives without any substance. You can be getting into libelous territory there. So a zero tolerance policy will be enforced as well.

Structure is very important and confidence in a coaching team. Look at donegal in football - went from being humiliated to an all Ireland semi final and the next year winners in 2 years.

Totally, Offaly are the bogeyman for us here - don't get our **** together we will end just like them.

And they have one of the nicest emptiest county grounds in the country too.

What would be the point? I suppose you could have a four team Munster championship but then you'd have to have six teams in the Leinster championship. Only fair way as we all know is to scrap the provincials altogether and have 2 groups of 5 in an open draw

Current set up with us yes. How bad to be relegated. Re group New Management and win or be runner up in Joe McDonagh cup and we’re in preliminary all Ireland quarter final avoiding Munster championship !!!

If you remember Offaly's decline started in the early 2000's. They were appearing in Leinster finals and All Ireland finals nearly every year. Then they started getting a few bad beatings, even with some of their star players in tow. People just said they were inconsistent or it was just a few bad days out. Then they started getting bad beatings from the top teams every year and hence, now they can't even hold themselves in the second tier. When players stop trying it sends out a bad message to the next generation and a malaise sets in. Something to be aware of.

We beat Carlow 3-15 to 0-10 in the league but have regressed massively since then so ya you're probably right

Great ideas as I said previously about how to try to rectify the mess at administrative level but I’m still not happy with the fact of these fellas downing tools yesterday. In any man’s language that’s unacceptable and really and truly they don’t give a s##t about the supporters and the people that financially support them year on year. I just can’t get my head around that performance. As Shefflin said about Cork, even when they were in dispute with management/county board in cork they still didn’t bottle it like our fellas. Spitting the dummy out of the pram at this level is a sad reflection on themselves as hurlers and as human beings. Not only should we weed out the administration but also the 5/6 bad apples on the panel aswell should get the boot!

Am I right in saying that Waterford are the only county in Munster without a center of excellence and / or plans to develop one?

Wexford & Carlow definitely have them - have Kilkenny?

Cork man here...

I agree that Donal Og was a bit ott in his criticism towards Gleeson. He's still a young player who has the potential to be one of the greats, even if he has been under-performing this year and last. Just because he won player of the year a few years back some people think it allows them to say whatever the hell they want about him the minute he doesn't reach those standards in a game.

From what little I've seen of Prunty at FB he's been excellent and could be your long term solution there if he's not moved out to the half back line.

Looking ahead to next week, on form Cork should have enough. Then again we played ye in the final game last year aswell when ye were already eliminated and it was only in the last few minutes that Cork pulled away so you never know.

While of course I'll be hoping Cork beat ye next weekend, it was sad to see a legend like Ken McGrath yesterday being so downbeat when I think back of the Cork V Waterford battles during his career.

Some very productive ideas being posted and having spoken to fellow supporters today there is definitely an undercurrent of dissatisfaction growing with the whole regime including management and county board. To change the cartel that is running both Eastern/Western boards along with the county board will take years. It’s something that definitely needs to be done along with the dismantling of both divisional boards.

We don’t have the forwards. We have lads that are knocking around the panel for a few years but physically they’re minor hurlers.

7 different players have started in the full forward line for Waterford in the Championship and have contributed a grand total of 5 points from play between them.

Pauric Mahony gone from Saturday’s game means we are short our only natural free taker. Cork meanwhile will be looking to put up a big score to avoid going out on points difference and there’ll be lads playing for a spot on the team against Clare the following week. I fear the worst is yet to come for us and Saturday will be an absolute horror show from the very start. I genuinely can’t see us putting double figures on the scoreboard.
