What the name of the CB at the academy who trains with the first team squad? Adam Lewis I think, I could see him in the FA Cup squad that's for sure and maybe the first team PL for a few games.

Injuries piling up but our run from now until the Wolves FA Cup game isn't terrible in terms of time between games but it is tough due to who we play and the injuries we now have. Three home and two away but both away games a short bus ride so can stay at home for the whole time.

5 days = 4 full days with the game on the fifth day.

Napoli to United at home (5 days)
United to Wolves away (5 days)
Wolves to Newcastle at home (5 days)
Newcastle to Arsenal at home (3 days)
Arsenal to City away (5 days)
City to Wolves away (4 days) time to rotate a lot and gamble the second string can get us through

Those breaks between games give us decent time to recover, nurse any knocks and prepare for the next one. Lovren and VVD are going to have to do what is needed for the next four/five games and hopefully we have some good news regarding Matip in four weeks. The Newcastle home game being the clear one out of our five league game where we may have to gamble with who plays at the back and rely on the forwards to rip their defence apart.

Comapared to City's run to the FA Cup game, easier run of teams to play but an extra game because of the league cup really limits the time between games and their injuries are racking up too.

That's what I love most about the current set up. Matip is weak as piss anyway, all you have to do is look at him, he's like a lad who stumbled out of a concentration camp, only a matter of time before he got injured and it'll be the same thing if and when he gets another run out

Ok I did not write this just copied it from another forum. But I will admit I agree with everything been said and was thinking similar over the last few months. Would be interested in other people’s thoughts:

I can’t help but look at Liverpool last night against Napoli, and regularly this season for that matter, and feel a bit sorry for Jordan Henderson. I have never seen a game where Hendo has given anything less than 100% and in Liverpool teams of the past few years, this would usually have been enough. I feel that Liverpool, as a club, have made such steps lately, that Hendo has been left as a player who belongs in these teams of the past and perhaps, doesn’t have the speed of play and the technical profiency to make a difference now. When Liverpool’s strength (alongside their newly discovered miserly defence it seems), is their plethora of attacking players who need early service in order to be as devastating as we saw last year, Henderson’s high looping balls to the fullbacks or a return pass to one of the centre backs he had just received the ball from, takes the threat away from the LFC attacks. I understand why Klopp wanted to use him and still does in some tighter games – lots of industry in terms of running, but is that really what Liverpool need in the middle of the park, especially when you already have the evergreen Milner and Gini in there already?

I have nothing but respect for Hendo but feel that LFC have maybe outgrown him.

The only is issue is that when others have filled that role, they haven't been consistent either. You will see our No6 pass the ball back to the center halves and to the FB's. That's the role that Klopp has for the No6, cause they all do it.
We all hope that Fab can grow and develop into that role, making it his, and strengthening the team.
But there's a good reason why Klopp still reverts to Hendo; he obviously feels that he's still our best option.

The pre season lads, Conor Masterson and Nat Philips, could be back in with a shout for game time.

Although I don't know what Masterson's injury situation is like. Wasn't he out for a good while?

I never actually realized the effect henderson has on the team till last night.

Twice I watch him pick up the ball in midfield and pass it sideways to Robertson, it was so predictable, the full back knew henderson was going sideways with it so closed down Robertson who naturally was forced to pass backwards.

Thought in the 2nd half we saw the Henderson that we hope for. Stepping up in the challenge, keeping the pressure on, and recycling the ball for us. He was great.

First half he was fairly awful, effort aside.

It's actually a conspiracy and Jurgen is just playing him to put him in the shop window for January.

No, it was actually Naby wearing a Jordan Henderson mask.

Or, y'know, maybe we're all clueless about football and reknowned champion and cool guy Jurgen Klopp actually understands what is required to win things, and picks players to implement those victories.

There are very, very, very few teams in history that can just have a load of Riquelmes swanning about and just pass their way around teams. Every now and again you'd have the stars align and a player like Xavi or Stevie would come along and be not only the best midfielder in the world with the ball but have an engine to match.

But for the rest of the slugs they have to be content with being footballers who aren't 10/10 in every single attribute and don't only score worldies, or do no look through balls, or beat 10 lads to cleave open a midfield. There's all this other stuff that needs doing though and lads like Gini, Hendo and Milner are quite good at a lot of it.

Excellent? Really? I think you need to lay off the chocolate. The general consensus on here last night was that he was poor last night, particularly in the first half.

Instead of writing "rubbish" under people's posts, why don't you try and change my mind about how ineffective he is and is at best, a mid table premier league club.

Pick out a few stand out moments from him last night. If he was "excellent" this should be easy.

I can't remember anything, he had one or two interceptions, a snatched shot on goal that's about all I can recall, apart from the endless safe 5-10 yard passes. I could safely say that I could count the amount of times the ball went directly forward on two hands.

The Henderson only passes backwards/sideways is a myth with the most simple stats (you'd have to dive deeper into them to really compare) but on the simple did his pass go backwards, forwards or sideways he's slightly behind to Gini and Milner and ahead of the likes of Fernandinho, Jorginho etc.

Henderson is this team's Dirk Kuyt or Lucas Leiva absolutely slated by half the fan base and appreciated by the other half, both ended up being more liked at the end of their time at Liverpool and Henderson will be the same in my opinion.

Henderson I thought was average 1st half and good 2nd half. Similar to Gini.

Milner was perhaps slightly better than both, but none of the three did anything amazing or disasterous.

Is it asking to much to expect a midfielder to turn carry the ball forward? I dont expect him to be iniesta or Xavi, a bit of progression would be great. Obviously he does the job that klopp wants him to do and that's great but he is rubbish to watch.

Henderson for me lacks any real quality and doesn't excel in any one area as far as I'm concerned. Maybe the old argument that he "covers a lot of ground" endears him to people.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I see his name on the teamsheet is slow, drawn out play and knowing he will spend more time playing 5 yard passes sitting between the two CBs than trying to move the ball forward.
