It was a genuine opinion. While I agree in general alot of umpires have poor positioning at times I think it is better to get the right decision, and it all 4 cases today they looked impossibly tight calls so the umpires were right to refer. If a few of them were well inside by foot or two inside I think the point might have more weight. Anyway everyone better pray that Hawkeye doesn't get called into action as much in Thurles or we'll all be there till midnight.

He gave Clare the break at 1-6 with their second point and the next two were a bit off, one should have gone to Hawkeye, not 100% on the last. Also clearly playing for a draw at the end. Why bother having extra time if the ref is actively trying for a replay. It just brings down the integrity of the competition. That's rife.

If hurling people want to wallow in the reflected pleasure of a great occasion, why get bitchy about it?? It was a wonderful occasion, and hurling won.

Game carries on, puck out taken, but the ref gets a word in his ear, signals for Hawkeye, we go through the rigmarole of the graphic/specsavers ad and hey presto; decision reversed, either previous wide or point reversed. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. If either of those two points you’re taking issue with were incorrectly awarded the Hawkeye official would have brought it to the referee’s attention. And I don’t see how it can be said the referee played for a draw. A minimum (not maximum...) of three minutes additional time was announced, after which Galway won a free, which they took around 45 seconds to take, and after which Hawkeye was called. So there’s no disputing the time that went over the third minute. I heard a lot of Galway fans complaining about that after the game yesterday, (booing at the final whistle), they’re completely in the wrong on that one. Referee did fine yesterday. Didn’t get any significant decisions wrong.

Clare gave as good as they got in the physicality stakes! Shane ODonnell running through Hanbury was a defining moment early I thought. Inspirational score when they badly needed it. Physicality is useless without skill and stickwork imo. Galway move the ball beautifully through the lines and with wonderful efficiency. They just seem to play in fits and starts for some reason.

Both teams had more than enough chances to win the game in normal time and extra time, it wasn't the referees fault it was a draw.
