I presume the loveboth and save the 8th people will now be using their resources to campaign for better sex education, free contraception, a change in our adoption policies and adoption system, better supports for parents who go ahead with an unplanned pregnancy, better access to supports for victims of rape, incest, domestic abuse, longer sentences for rapists and paedophiles... I'm sure there was other stuff they suggested could take the place of abortion but that was generally the gist of it.

I am ready for a lot of "we have already decided that we are going to say no to whatever you propose and do all we can to slow it down for as long as possible" carry on from the likes of him. The problem is the catholic church, the biggest kiddie fiddling ring ever is just a church.
You do not need the church to believe in god. Plenty members in my family believe in God but dont believe in the church.

I personally do not believe in the invisible man, but you do not need to to have compassion, decency, etc and for people to claim others have some divine right over others based on how they voted shows they have very little understanding themselves.

The days of the church brainwashing people are over, especially for the young.
Get over it and learn to accept it.

YES voters were 78% for SSM, 5% against.
NO voters were 36% for SSM, 39% against.

Im very shocked by how many more people seemingly voted yes for this than the marriage referendum, in some counties at least. I thought for sure the number of yes voters would be at most the same number who voted yes in the marriage referendum. What explanation could there be for this?

I’ve seen this faux concern for the welfare of these prospective phantom future children brought up many times on these threads.

The 8th undoubtedly had an effect on men, because it had the power to hurt their daughters, wives, sisters and mothers.
And of course, the concern that an ex partner might have an abortion without permission is also a legitimate worry.

But your concern loses all credibility when the one issue you are bleating on about is the ONLY one where you can’t control what happens.
And ironically, in order for you to get that, the woman would lose complete control of her own body.

It comes across as insincere, misogynic, and very, very controlling.

As was nastily said many times during the debates on Boards, if the woman doesn’t want to get be pregnant, maybe she should have kept her legs closed.
Well my friend, the same applies to you. You should be held to the same standard.
If you are that concerned about an ex partner aborting your baby without permission, maybe you need to be a bit more careful about where you dip your wick.

Well, I’ll be honest, I was a Yes voter who thought that there would be a stark urban/rural divide.
