CiDeRmAn wrote: » Ah now. Anyone can have an opinion, true. The internet is full of opinions. But there's informed opinion and the other kind. And the stuff Retr0 linked to is informed opinion. You have to gain knowledge somewhere, just some think this means watching a 10 minute Youtube video of a shouty person or a panel giving opinions, on IGN or elsewhere.

And no one needs to see a gaming universe dominated by just one company, and the self limiting nature of such an arrangement.

The Switch's portability should be at the forefront of its marketing and it should be treated as a successor to both the 3DS AND Wii U. Nintendo have confirmed that the 3DS and Wii U will coexist side by side and the way they're approaching it makes me think that the 3DS will have a successor next year or the year after. Nintendo should really only have one system on the market that they can dedicate all their man power to. That in itself would be such a big selling point.

On the other hand, I think there's plenty of scope for people, living with their 3DS consoles for ages, moving naturally to the Switch as an upgrade. I can see this because, as well as everything else I have, the 3DS has been a cracking source of gaming goodness for years now, and much of that was done at home rather than elsewhere. The Switch has the potential to tap into this niche and expand it, which has the potential of making it the most popular console of all. Instead of seeing it as a PS4 competitor with a smaller library, think of it as a 3DS successor with the potential to bring an entirely new range of titles, Skyrim/Fallout/Dark Souls to the portable gaming market, along with the Fire Emblems, Etrian Odyssey's and Pokemon games.

It will be very interesting to see how the first 6 months go and how the online pans out. Also, they really need to re-think their strategy on those paid for monthly games that they will remove after the month is up - that's an insult to Nintendo fans.

The closest we get to anything official from Nintendo is one guy seeing "a twinkle" in an execs eye. It doesn't matter if they are analysts, they can talk as much crap as the next guy, just see some of stuff Michael Pachter comes out with. There is nothing official from Nintendo (and there won't be), so questioning it is fair game.

They should and could make more units? Well done, here's your degree in economics.
