She presented a documentary on rape culture during the week on RTE which focused on the issue of sexual assault against females. It's interesting to note her response to a (male) follower would tweeted that it would be hilarious to see a remake of Deliverance featuring "pissed up dickheads on a drunken stag". For anyone who's not seen the movie Deliverance its about three city dwellers who go for a weekend fishing to what could be described as a backwoods community. Central to the storyline is when they are held captive and one of them raped by a bunch of rednecks.

Even if we arraigned teams of lawyers and weeks of negotiations to form a document of consent to ensure compliance.In the heat of the moment, consent is always going to be a grey area. Especially if alcohol is involved.

A discussion on consent is welcome. Enforced consent classes being forced upon teens who are nervous enough about their sexual future after being raised by a litany of female teachers in a feminised education system. Totally unacceptable.

Very hard to get concise numbers but it is low. If you were to ask the first 100 women you meet on the street if they had ever been raped most would say no. I'd imagine a lot of rape survivors were abused as children or by their spouse. It's not something most women will experience.

In 2014 there were 35 convictions for rape in Ireland.

Now, since you haven't answered my question: is being felt up in a club the same as forcible penetrative sex?

I doubt there has been a study on whether rape is extremely uncommon.

Global comparison on this site shows Ireland in 38th place after countries like Sweden, US and other advanced and poor economies.

I am going to take a gamble here as the Irish figures appear to be from 2010 (figures have since fallen) that these figures are weighted a little by the clergy scandal so not entirely a female centric figure.

Erm, I'm having deja vu or did somebody just say exactly that when asked what the Irish rape incidence rate was... oh yeah it was me. About 10 minutes ago.

From the last study:

The rate of convictions in 2013 for all of those charged with rape was just 19%, but the rate for those who actually contested the charges was less than 7%.

Any thoughts on this?
