I just seen that on Irish Weather Online, I'm so sad to read that, he was always so knowledgeable and helpful to those of us that didn't have a clue about weather. Very sad news, may he RIP

I don't comment much on weather, but read his posts religiously everyday - especially to plan my fair weather golf days.

The sudden non appearance of his forecast yesterday (he'd always give notice when he was not going to be able to post) did have me hoping he was ok and someone would update to say his internet connection was down, or something more mundane.

    A great loss.

It would be lovely is mod could write an appreciation on his thread and then the trade be closed and made a sticky as a shrine to his brilliance.

    RIP

Shocked and saddened to hear this news. RIP MT. Had his daily weather forecast bookmarked looked forward to checking in every morning around 7am.
No more Summer and Winter predictions, really looked forward to those, even enjoyed reading his local weather.

I just saw it on IWO. He will be a huge loss to this community.

@Meteorite58 it's probably fitting to lock his thread with a note.

R.I.P loved looking at weather here and fb. Such a caring thoughtful person as he would write to someone and explain wisely with his knowledge.

Awful sad news, like many I had come to rely on Peter above all other sources before making any outdoor plans. Condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP

Normally I would receive some kind of message from M.T. in advance if he was going to be unable to deliver the daily forecast so that I could fill in for him. I wouldn't always have the time to do so but would try my best whenever I could. However, this time I did not receive a message and had a feeling something was up. Then to share that news post to IWO was very unfortunate.

As to what happens with IWO now without his contributions is a big unknown. I can post the odd forecast to maintain his legacy and contribute to the community as he did in some way but cannot promise the same enthusiasm or passion that he did as my primary interest lies in studying the past rather than forecasting. But for now, I think I will leave the page as is to give time to mourn, and to look back on and respect everything M.T. has done for the community.

Rest in peace you legend and thanks for everything. The community whether it is Boards, Netweather, the people of Ireland etc will never be the same without you and your contributions. RIP

I'm not in any way knowledgable about weather etc so purely read the weather forum, but read MTs forecasts every morning. A huge loss to boards.

    RIP

Sad news indeed. My first look at boards most mornings was to see his forecast. I'm going to call him MT as I knew him, RIP MT, so sad to hear of your passing, condolences to your family, friends and colleagues. You warned us often in latter years that you wouldn't last forever, and sadly your time is over. Thank you for your years of posting the forecast and informative posts on weather related issues.

A huge asset to boards the community and by extension boards the business. He brought the weather forum up there with soccer, motors etc, where it belonged.

Came across always as a gentleman.

    Rest in peace.

Aww, I saw the news on IWO.
His was one of the few threads I always followed. I loved the updates in his posts about his own weather as well as the forecast.
Not too long ago I mentioned here that during lockdown, his posts were like a solid source of comfort to me, in a world gone mad. I can't even explain why.

May he rest in peace, and may his family and friends gain solace in time, from their memories of him.
