A thread to talk about all types of XR (Extended Reality) Glasses.

From smart glasses that simply record video like the Meta Ray Ban / Meta Oakley glasses to Wearable Displays (Rayneo, Viture etc..) to full on high-tech AR (Augmented Reality) Glasses.

This thread should serve as a placeholder for when / of the technology catches on.

First up,

I received the RayNeo Air 4 Pros yesterday:

They are set to launch internationally at the end of this month after being delayed last month.

So these are the Chinese version but you can update the firmware to change the OSD language to English.

They have 1080p per eye micro OLED displays so the colours are really good and the sharpness is great. Theyre also the first set of XR glasses on support HDR content. I'm waiting on a HDMI adapter to test them with HDR games on the PS4.

They plug directly into devices that support Display Port out via USB C, I'm using them with my pixel 8a and my Retroid Pocket 5 handheld android console.

The perspective is like seeing a 100" screen from a distance of 3 metres and I would say that's completely accurate as I have a 100" projector screen to compare with.

Unlike more expensive brands that have blurry edges, the edges are sharp on these.

They can be a bit fiddly they get a good field of view, and it may just be my head shape but it's difficult to see all 4 corners of the screen at once.

It's not a dealbreaker though imo. Only a small percentage of the screen is out of view and since a lot of movies have black bars anyway you won't notice while watching them.

I need to look into a way of reducing the screen size on android to get around this slight flaw.

3d movies work well, they have to be Full SBS (side by side) format as in 3840x1080 resolution.

I don't think 3D works with the google pixel phones, I need to retry but they worked fine on the Retroid Pocket 5.

As for comfort they are extremely light and comfortable once you find a position that works for you. Even after extnended sessions they are 10 times more comfortable than your average bulky VR headset.

I'm also waiting on the RayNeo Pocket TV which is basically a pocket sized, battery powered device with Google TV that has a usb c port for XR glasses and another for charging.

The more I get used to the glasses, the more I like them!

Meant to review them yesterday but was too engoressed in playing The Getaway PS2 game via an emulator on the Retroid handheld!
