After 3 months without issues my untethered Zappi has decided to not release my charging cable. When I Press "+" it sounds like the latch releases but nothing happens. Anyone had this issue?
Hi everyone
The electrician came over and fixed Zappi within a few seconds, Why I was fobbed off for two months is beyond my understanding. Thank you, everyone, and thank you for the app screen above; That is sleek! Since Zappi fix- my monitoring consists of the following:
· I use Solis App to see production and House consumption
· Then, on the I-boost screen, hot water consumption
· On the Zappi screen, car consumption
· On the ESB page, export to the network with 48 h delay
Which is just not normal!
Over 10K paid for the system, and I am in the stone age regarding monitoring. It pisses me off that the installer did not explain things. It all makes sense to electricians. But for people like me who know nothing about electricity and English is a second language; the whole thing is a minefield!
I will contact the installer and show them MyEnergi app, and see what they say-so stressful!
Got it disconnected this morning and was greeted by this on the zappi:
Bit of burn damage on 2 of the sockets 😤
Any damage to the matching plug end ?
No, the plug on the cable appears to be fine. Have emailed the installer and will followup with a call on Monday. Saw on myenergi forums there's at least one other person in the last few days with the same problem.
It can't be fine. The fault will have transferred between the plug and socket-outlet. At a guess a fault in the lead has transferred and damaged the Zappi.
Is there a way to update the firmware in a V1 Zappi without a hub?
I don't think so
Zappi V2 on its way to me, bit of a bargain at £350 incl VAT and shipping, particularly if you consider that I bought my current zappi for €120 as faulty and it had been warranty replaced by myenergi for the previous owner 😁
Great price. Do you mind me asking where that was from and if there would be any more available? Would like to upgrade from the regular EO Mini to avail of solar charging but can't justify the cost at the regular prices. Already have a V2 Eddi.
Myenergi fooked up the latest firmware for eddi V2 and zappi V2. In that if you have an eddi V2 and a zappi V1 and update the eddi to the latest firmware, it no longer works with the zappi. Myenergi try getting you to move back to the previous firmware but if you protest at that, they offer you a "refurbished" zappi V2 at £350 incl VAT and shipping. Provided of course that a zappi V1 is registered in your account. So far I have only seen people receiving brand new zappi V2 under this deal. Should get mine tomorrow or in the next few days, provided Irish customs aren't sticking their dirty nose in it.
Ah ok, not possible for me then. Nice deal for those eligible though, especially getting a brand new replacement, and even more so when you got the V1 second hand!
Paid €120 for it, was replaced under warranty by the previous owner. It is actually faulty now, so the timing for me is perfect 😁 I already sold it for €120 for spares or repair 😂
Mine had a refurbished sticker on the box. Looks good as new though and a 3 year warranty.
Ouch. Keep us updated!
Got my zappi V2 this morning, looks brand new to me 😁 Hopefully installing it this evening
Just to point out in case anyone isn't aware, but replacing an EVSE can only legally be done by a REC as these are Restricted Electrical Works, as EVSE installations are a Special Installation/Location in Part 7 of the Wiring Rules.
Each to their own but if it’s just a straight swap, it’s no more difficult than changing out an electric shower. You could be waiting weeks to get a sparks to come and do such a small job.
My mate is a RECI and will install it for me. But as @joe1303l said, it's the same job really as replacing an outdoor socket.
Well, made a warranty claim to Zappi, supplied some pictures and a replacement was sent out within a few days. Zappi allocated an installer and once I recieved the replacment they arranged an install date. Fitted day before yesterday and working fine. In total 2 weeks out of service which could have been less if I was more on the ball.
getting this installed next week
Option 1 Available in Black or White (Please note that the Unit Below is the New Version 3 c/w Wi-Fiand App Functionality)
Supply and install a Zappi 7KW EV Tethered Charge point C/W Fixed 6.5Mt Lead, a shower priority device is not required (When There is one Shower ) @ €1330.00 EX VAT @ 13.5%
how do I check that they install v2 unit and not v1.
the installer was referred by the car sales guy, I’ve no reason to think they might pull a fast one but better to be able to double check
thanks
They no longer sell v1, and it was beige.
v2 is the new shape in black or white and v2.1 is the new shape, but has WiFi.
I don’t think they even sell the v2 without WiFi anymore.
That reads like a quote from NMD. He's reputable so you'll get the newer version. Check the label on the box on the day to be sure.
Zappi reconnected to Hub yesterday,
plugged in car as normal last night , eco two leaves setting with fast boost from midnight.
Looked at app at 06:00, only charging at 1.2 kw/hr
set to fast on the app and it stopped, installation limit message on zappi
Grid limit is 60 amp and device limit is 31.2 amp
Any thoughts?
Ignore me.
Is V5 good to go? I see a patch version was released 2 days ago

Thanks, posted a support request and they think its the CT is gone or else a bug in V 5, have sent photos.
[PIA: 40 euro at the fast charger this morning for both cars!]
picked up a new wifi enabled zappi for €510 in england. now i just need an electrician to install it.
with the €600 grant the overall cost should be minimal.
Are they readily available much cheaper in the UK or did you manage to secure a one off bargain ?
They are generally cheaper in the UK (about €800 incl. VAT) however in my case I got a BNIB zappi from eBay.
