I don't see it on the 2015 schedule so I'm guessing the Seve Trophy has been scrapped? Lack of interest from both spectators and players I'd imagine....would be nice if the tour could hold another event with the Seve name on it.

Gary Hurley paired with Brian O'Driscoll this week. As if he wasn't going to be nervous enough for his first start.

    GMac is with A.P McCoy

I'm pretty sure those names don't just come out of a hat!

He'll be grand, most likely knows Brian, so probably a nice introduction for him.

Amazing the difference a few places in the Amateur rankings stakes up in the real deal.
    Chesters 594
    Dunne 942
    Hurley 1695

Will be interesting to see how they fair this week

I guess a lot of them are fixed up in advance, but I read Lowry's article saying he had requested to play with Gerry McManus again but that they don't find out until the Tuesday night for certain.

I see that Shane got his wish and they are playing with JP McManus and Padraig for the first three rounds.

What's the pecking order with the three coursed in the Dunhill? Which is the easiest, which is the hardest course?

    Carnoustie nearly always the hardest.

Kingsbarn is usually the easiest probably because it has 4 pars 5's while the others have 2 and 3.

Hole in 1 for Paul Dunne on the 15th in Kingsbarns.

-3 after 7 holes of his round with 2 bogies on the card.

Anyone want to briefly explain the format for this tournament?

Anyone want to briefly explain the format for this tournament?

Pro Am format across 3 courses.
Each Pro & their partner play each course one day of the 3.
Pro tournament as normal for Pro's
Fourball betterball for team (Pro + Am)

There is a cut after 3 days I think it is roughly the top 30/40 teams along with all pro's who's individual score has made the cut.

The main tournament is still a pro tournament with the sideline of a pro am feel. It would be a biggie in terms of prize money etc for the Pro's.

    Anything else?

Nice start by Lawrie and Dunne

Only 20 teams make the cut (based on count back, if necessary) and the top 60 professionals plus ties. If a professional is in one of the top 20 teams, he gets to play on the Sunday, but his score only counts towards the team competition.

Last year, Peter Lawrie and his partner won the pro-am even though Peter missed the cut by 1 shot.

...which I presume pretty well guaranteed his invite for this year.

I looked earlier on in the week and there were 25 players invited to play so lots of places this week for someone with his profile.

I copied the current scores into a spreadsheet and sorted them by course.

Average scores to par so far are as follows:

    Kingsbarns -1.93
    Carnoustie -0.29
    St. Andrews -0.21

When you take into account the fact that the 16 highest ranked players in the field (based on the OWGR) are all playing Carnoustie today, Kingsbarns is definitely playing the easiest of the three courses.

Leaderboard on the European Tour web site is very slow to update today.

Great to see some Irish names near the top.

It's notorious for this tournament with the 3 courses over the years.

At one point Paul Dunne was listed on -5, but clicking on his name gave a scorecard showing he was -7!

When I saw this first I though it was one of the amateurs and not Ernie!!

    Carnoustie: 72.45

Yes, the real leaderboard isn't clear until everyone has played them all.

Anyone else having trouble getting the leaderboard to load today? I'm mostly getting a blank page. And when I do get some scores, Peter Lawrie has been on the same hole for a couple of hours!

Just search for flashscores in the play store. Has scores for everything but you can set it for golf only!
