I have a playstation that I really only use as a blue ray player, and even that's rare.
However last year my friends advised me to sign up for PSN, the option where you pay 50euro for the year.
Never got and use out of it, and forgot about it.
I see now they've emailed me and charged my card for another year...
Is there any way I can cancel it even though I've already been charged?

I doubt it,your stuck with it for the year I'd say unless you ring them up and explain the situation but I'd doubt you'd get any satisfaction out of them, you should try make the best of the situation and take full advantage of it you get a load of free stuff from what I've read

You could remove all credit card details and give someone who would take advantage of the games your PSN log in details (a friend btw) and they can access the games and possibly refurbish you your money...

Personally now the PS + is about to kick off and introduce brilliant savings and has a wide range of Full games to be downloaded... Consult your friend and see does he want the year... Otherwise as Sephiroth says, take advantage of what you have...

You are set up for auto- renewal by the sounds of it.
You need to cancel it or you will more than likely be charged again next year.

Follow the instructions in this video to cancel:

Teddy - before you cancel your auto-renewal - they released several full free games on PS+ in the last day or two - some I have been thinking of getting for a while.

Why not take advantage of this slip and download a few?
    e.g. Infamous2 - 15Gig in size - on a 2Mg line it is taking me forever....
