....SO.....you took the pic before seeing this assignment? (before 5pm on 8th April?)

BTW, its easily my favourite one so far

I remember being at a union/management meeting years ago when it was pointed out to the main Union rep that what he was suggesting was actually against their own written Rules. His reply was...

'The Rules are only there as a Guidance':)

(and it is a brilliant photo)

Thanks. Both taken with Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens. Second one is a crop from the original.

Wow - I don't have anything like a 1.4 - the way it throws the background so much out of focus is just great.

Sorry that your shot had to be eliminated - I liked it a lot.

It's got its drawbacks though, anything away from the centre at 1.4 starts to get soft towards the corners and the DoF is so shallow the slightest movement from subject or photog can throw the image slightly out of focus.

On the upside it does give awesome vignetting on full frame.

I'd seriously say 70-80% of my shots are taken with the 50mm.

BTW the fact that Andy is a damn handsome guy did not do any harm to the pics. And I'm on Ebay checking the prices of a 1.4/ 50mm

Assignment or not, it's a brilliant shot - any chance you'd tell us what set-up/settings you used. I know I'd appreciate the help.

I think it should be left in. So what if it was taken just a few hours before the assignment was setup. She probably dosn't have the opportunity to retake. Anyway, This is about learning and comparing styles, with a little competitive element added for the fun of it.
