    Hi all,
I was having some problems with the internal microphone and disabled it presuming i would be able to re-enable it and see if that corrected the problem.however, once i disabled it, it was gone and now my internal microphone is redundant.Ive been looking for possible solutions or where i can download the microphone programme/driver but havent found anything. My laptop model no is VGN-CR120E, running Vista.

I tried a system restore but that only brought it back to yesterday (it was the furthest back available option) and this didnt work.I disabled the mircophone 2 days ago.Any ideas as to where i can download a new driver and fix this problem? Thanks :)

managed to fix it myself! after hours of downloading and updating drivers from various different websites and downloading driver managers trying to fix the problem it turns out, for some reason, which i dont know why, sony decided not to have "show disabled devices" set as a default!

If this happens to anybody else its quite easily fixed... Sound > Recodring > then right click and select "show disabled devices". then quite simply click properties and "enable".

Hope this saves someone else a few hours of head scratching! :)

Thank you so much for posting this, you saved me hours of looking for a solution,:)

last week i disabled the mic because i was on an online seminar and i didnot want background noise from home being recorded and listened to by everyone else.

today I tried to re-enable the mic to use skype and like you couldn't find how to.
thanks to a google search i came across this thread, although posted two years ago it saved my sanity
