    Hi,

I'm looking to get a 32" tv in the Philips shop and hoping to spend less than €500. I want something fairly decent, that will be future proof. Not a big gamer so mainly basic TV and sport is what I need it for. What would be the best deal for me? Would be looking to get it this week too, so whats in stock might be an issue. I would be getting it delivered to Rathmines.

    Cheers,

    Tom

    Hi Tom

Sounds like you looking for the 32PFL5604H
    www.p4c.philips.com/files/3/32pfl5604h_12/32pfl5604h_12_pss_eng.pdf

This is as future proof as it can be really,
    Full HD (1080p/24fps)
3x HDMI, 2x SCART, even component inputs and a RF in (Does anyone use this now?? - Guess if over the air MPEG4 ever gets off the ground this will be important)
    MPEG4 tuner
    Pixel Plus HD processing
All in all a great set for the money.

    Speaking of which...
I'm selling these in store for €549.99 but with the 10% Boardies Discount that drops to €494.99.
You can collect from the shop or we can deliver.
I'll have more in this week as this has been a popular set of late.

    How does that sound?

    Hi Ashley,
Im interested in the above Tv also. Im just concerned about it not being 100Hz. Can you see a noticeble difference in picture quality between the standard version and one with 100Hz on sky digital?
How much is a similar Tv with 100Hz?
    Thanks.

    Hi Randel

For the money this is a very good TV and I'd say you wouldn't miss the 100Hz from the spec roster.
    Handle motion nicely.

Of course if you want 100Hz you could try the 32PFL7404H
    www.p4c.philips.com/files/3/32pfl7404h_12/32pfl7404h_12_pss_eng.pdf
This a step up image quality wise over the 5604 but then in addition to 100HZ it has a more powerfull image processor in the shape of Pixel Precise HD along with a faster response time of 3ms (compared to 5ms on the 5604) and a greater constrast ratio (80000:1 comp'd to 50000:1) - all these features work together to to improve the image and motion handling on the 7404 - they do a good job too:)

The 32PFL7404 came out on top in the recent What Hi-Fi 32" TV shoot out against it peers....

This TV is a little higher up the price range, we sell it for €699.99 in store (You can subtract your 10% Boardies Discount from that price) and you also get a 3 year warranty with this TV as well

Both are on display in the shop so feel free to call in and have a looksee at 'em
    Cheers

    Thanks Ash,

Can you buy an extended guarantee? Second LCD is for mother in law so better make the right decision!!

    Also, do you guys deliver?

    Thanks,

    Kieran

I knew I had another question for you!

As I mentioned the 2nd LCD is for my mother in law, she only has 4 channels and watches the soaps religiously.

Do I need to spend the extra money on a full HD spec? Would she (i.e. anyone not into their TV's) notice the difference between a HD Ready model and a 1080p? She uses a standard outdoor aerial.

Also, How much would be in the difference?

    Thanks again,

    Kieran

    Hi Kieran,

We currently only offer the 2 year warranty on the Philips 5000 series.

As for the second TV for your mother in law I would say the 32PFL5404 is a great TV altough not full HD. However if all she is using it for is an outdoor aerial then she won't be losing out.

The 32PFL5404H is €449.99 instore so with your 10% boardie discount that comes to €405. SPECS - http://www.consumer.philips.com/c/televisions-5000-series/5000-series-32-inch-digital-tv-32pfl5404h_12/prd/gb/

And the 32PFL5604H is €549.99 instore so with your 10% discount that would be €495. SPECS - http://www.consumer.philips.com/c/televisions-5000-series/5000-series-32-inch-digital-tv-32pfl5604h_12/prd/gb/

Hope this helps your decision! :D

    Thanks a million, Nicola.
