It took about 4 months in the case of RTÉ2 HD. In mid August 2010 RTÉ published a tender notice for the supply of a HD playout facility for RTÉ Television. In early Dec 2010 RTÉ2 switched over to 1080i HD format with its first true HD broadcast the following May.

In that case we had an active mux with spare capacity, no spare capacity for RTÉ One HD until mux2 goes live.

Then MUX two must be going live. There is about half a byte of spare capacity on MUX one.
