I was thinking of getting one of these based on how pleased I've been with my 120, you must have been unlucky.

Again same idea. These boxes combine Saorview and satellite channels in the one channel list.

Obvious question is going to be what are the differences over the 120/220 combos. They are updates to that series. I would guess that the 120/220s may become discontinued shortly as a result. Much the same prices.

    How much??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭STB

The 150 is €72, before postage on Satsklep. With postage in or around €100 probably. The Ariva 250 not yet available there.

Tony of Satellite.ie is a Ferguson agent in Ireland. Lets see what kind of prices (and deals if any for boards members he has).

Yes, I noticed that. I didn't mention it. Perhaps it might be a deal clincher for some! Anyhow it can be locked.

I have seen worse by the way. It seems to be an element creaping into satellite boxes with internet access in general. You should look into the Mvision NET range that comes out of Spain. They have a pre-programmed menu option linking to an FTP full of pron. They use it as a selling point!

Dunno. I didn't write the software. If there are any issues, I am sure the Ferguson Agents will have a line into them, as in the past. So support and issues via here, I would imagine.

Digital TV Receiver Ferguson Ariva 150 Combo is a new version of the 120th Owned by the previous model functionality has been extended, among others. WiFi adapters for handling and use of the websites (youtube, youporn, dailimotion, RSS, weather, google maps). Equipped with a faster processor Ariva 150, also offers a much more advanced support for subtitles, as well as encoding Xvid (divx) and the practical function of multiroom.
    [Google translate]

I wonder what that 'multiroom' actually means.
It seems that DTS passthrough is part of the new spec., which I guess is directly related to that statement.

Anyone got info on this aspect?

I saw the reference to multiroom but cant see an RF modultaor. I have asked Tony what thats all about.

DTS is audio related, similar to Dolby Digital.

Yes, and my understanding is that .... the DTS passthough would make available multichannel data on the passthrough.

But that is all rather vague ..... but the use of 'multiroom' is intriguing.

Honestly I've no idea why they are referring to multiroom, maybe this is a translation issue . First sample box for testing should be here in a few days so if I see anything that might equate to multiroom I'll post up here. I'll also check out if the two usb ports are both the same which would give the option of using the external hard drive at the back of the box.

Delivery to Ireland is €12.39, making the delivered price €84.85. Can any Irish supplier match that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,109 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Wondering is that menu example shown on the screenshot a fixed one?

In other words, will YOUPORN always be on your menu?

If so, I think thats rather strange. I can see it now - "Daddy, whats YouPorn?"

    Of course they can't.

As mentioned earlier, satworld have thrown down the gauntlet @ €100. Tony will prob come in close I guess. Eitherway, ask yourself is it worth €15 for the peace of mind of a local supplier, hence an easy return/exchange if issues arise, which, if it's predecessor is anything to go by, will be a real concern.

I've pm'ed a mod to ask if I can answer the pricing question but no reply so far.

Reason for this is advertising is (quite rightly) not allowed here normally.

Sorry, but what is the main difference between the 150 and 250.
Have to say personally, was quite happy with my 120, not perfect but good overall.
Any more details on the price for the wifi dongle thing

Maybe a question for some of the lads in the trade, but can ye see these or similar receiver including the RTE player in its menu...would be almost as big a seller as the porn site id say !!!??

i cant see ferguson doing anything with them for the irish market because as has been mentioned with the 120 if they put mheg5 on it it would have been a serious winner but ferguson don't seem interested in it.

Bit the bullet with the 150 last night and then seen this. Rang them this morning and changed my order :D

The 150 is in stock. The 250 is not, although they do expect to receive delivery in 48-72hrs.

Will post details once I have it.

As yes but the chipset support CI+ modules. We will see what Tony comes back with from Ferguson.

I am sure it hasn't escaped Ferguson Polands' attention that they were shipping significant large numbers of the 120s to Ireland.

Just wondering if any of the Irish suppliers know when they will have the 150 in stock?
Just prefer to buy local, given little difference in price and easier to deal with any issues if they arise (though i have had no issues with the 120).

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,325 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Ferguson have started shipping so most Irish suppliers should have stock by middle of next week if not sooner.
