Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Nice! After I moved from the MD to the PS1, I actually gave my old next door neighbour VR Racing for free!

    Would sure love to have that cart back right now though! ;)

    That reminds me, must *acquire* VR Flat Out while I'm PS2 mad atm.

    Odd thing about Retrogame Challenge is that, when I searched eBay for the game, instead of getting the usual no hits or more than 8 or so hits, I only got one hit!
    A copy in the States with, as luck would have it, reasonable rates to Ireland, so I bought it.
    Looks like it's interesting, plus it's the US copy of the game, so it's in Engrish as well.
    Apparently there is a Jap only sequel as well, so if this is a fun title I may see about adding that to the collection.

    Yeah, that's the one.
    It's ok, a lot better than the awful Saturn version.
    But, it's not the 32X or MD game so it loses out!
    It does look silky smooth though, but it loses something in the translation.
    I adore the series and the 32X is the best version for me, followed by the incredible feat of VR on the MD, Stuntrace FX can eat it's dust!

    I think there was 2 releases of the remade saturn version that came out on the PS2 Pyongy.

    The CPC I picked up last week , I was able to mod it to bypass the tapedeck if needed and load data straight from an mp3 player(you can make em up from tape images and theres even a site that has them as mp3s ready for download!)

    It's more a reference to Portopia Serial Murder Case which is probably the most famous japanese text adventure on the NES and was one of the first games by Yuji Horii who went on to create dragon quest. It got fan translated recently.

    Video of the TurboExpress screen as requested.
    I've put it beside an unmodified Nomad for a screen comparison.

    You can see the screen isnt great by today's standards but considering its age I think its ok. I'd love to mod the screen on it and maybe I will one day. The Nomad is going to get a screen mod in the next few months I hope, once I sort out parts and talk nice to Mr WorsePrisonNameEver ;)

    Thanks for doing that. The TurboExpress screen looks a lot better than I thought, colours are really vibrant. Do you think the cap kit might have helped that? The poor old Nomad stock screen is a bit duff these days, to be expected I guess.

    Now to wipe my memory of that video else I'll start to want a Turbo. :pac:

    Yeah, heard about that and will probably be the best option.
    Hard to make the devices neat though, at least MD and Snes flashcarts can fit into a standard respective cart shell, the PCE/TG-16 carts are cards!
    We'll have to wait and see, then spend!
    There simply is little other option unless I am happy to spend a fortune importing from the States, plus it means I can play Jap games without the prohibitively expensive region converter for the TG-16.
    But it is such a choice machine, the games are pretty brilliant and it is a pity titles aren't readily available from local retro vendors.

    @safetyboy - Just following up from the other thread & Super Mario RPG, quite a nice way of modding the cart without actually modding it. I assume its the same pin covered, that would be connected to the pin in the cart that your meant to lift?

    @waveform - some of the sockets are empty in o1s1ns pcb because Capcom used a standard cps board for all the cps1 games. Certain games require more eeproms, certain ones require less...but the board can accommodate any cps1 game

    I'm not sure how the PS2 version plays but the early games in that Sega budget rerelease series are absolute dirt until M2 took over and put out some stunningly emulated games and collections. Best to read up on how the conversion is before you buy.

    Well, I have them, the PS2 game is very good, the other titles on the collection are the likes of the truly deplorable update of Golden Axe, worse than the original in every way, and that's saying something coming from me!
    The Outrun update is not as good as the original, but fun but no where near the glory that is Outrun 2006, a superior racer on the Xbox, PS2, PSP and XBLA in HD.
    For my money the Xbox and PS2 versions are the Win as they have all the extra content, the fresh track set etc.

    Buy the set for Virtua Racing and you won't be disappointed with the "bonus" of everything else on the disk!

    Castlevania Dawn of Sorrows MIA and red box Mario Kart listed as like new and perfect and 100% complete arrives sans booklet and missing colour at edges and plus sticker marks.

    Its pin 56 on the connector, the trace runs up to a resister? I dont know what they're called, but its marked R5, and from that there seems to be two traces back to like pins 123/124 on the sa chip but doesn't seem to trace to pin 127 which is the one you're meant to lift, pretty weird!

    Played it for a few hours last night and didn't run into any problems, doing this is meant to work on all the other games will similar lockout protection using the SA1 including SFA2 ntsc version and star ocean etc. I scoured the net for ages and seen this method only mentioned once on a random forum so don't know if I`ll run into gameplay problems down the line
