    Anyone try the new restaurant in Mullingar 'Zest'? Heard it was to be reasonable cost, sort of like Oscars...

    Yes both are a big loss to us. We were lucky enough to be at a friend's wedding in Middleton Park in Castletowngeoghegan last year so when we heard the restaurant had opened we kept planning to and finally got down to it about 2 months ago.

    Met up with two other couples and needed to impress so me choosing the silver room was a sweet move. Its hard to describe how good it is. and how refreshing to have 1st class experience again. www.mph.ie and ask about the lift home. We're using it in a few weeks time when we book again. You can get sick of just being about town. This easily takes the place of Crookedwood and the lakes are on the way back. If one of ye is driving!

    What is wrong with all these so called restaurants? they're trumped up cafés IMHO

    Dined in "Thyme" restaurant over the Bank Holiday weekend and was well impressed. Its located where the Olive Grove was before they moved to RiverS.

    They've made use of the space available (it a small enough building) but they have managed to make it look bigger and better spread out than when it was the Olive Grove.

    Service and food was excellent and prices were very reasonable.

    I dined in the Annebrook hotel in Mullingar a few times and have to say that i wouldn't be rushing to go back. The first experience was enjoyable when it first opened, proper restaraunt with lovely service, in whci you were waited on hand and foot.

    So was eager to go back but the service is gone down hill and for the price you pay, the menu dosn't change, specially the set menu and their dessets let them down, as think they taste like they have been bought in not homemade.

    Would love to hear about the zest restaraunt, thinking of booking a table in it this weekend.
