Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Met a dude online & was with him for 2.5 years. He is now an ex so it wasn't to be a happy ending, but it can/does work!! :) Sometimes just sex, if that's what you're looking for, well and good. But make sure the other person is aware of that also.

My most recent relationship started that way. But, yeah, I'll say no more on that topic.

A friend is in a relationship for a few years from online dating!

I'm over messaging guys and getting no reply!

Yep, I introduced my friend to online dating and she's been with the guy since last April! :) No time for me now, but that's another story.

The thing to remember about this thread is that the frequent posters are the ones actively online dating at the moment. You don't hear about the successes as much because those posters end up disabling their profiles and no longer have as much to contribute. :)

yep i dated a guy all summer we only broke up when i left ireland he was pretty sound. It wouldn't have been a long term thing because we weren't suited but that wasn't due to the internet thing. So yeah it definitely can work. I've just met someone else that i hope will work out.

    You don't get replies?

I would have thought girls would have got replies to most of their messages. :([/Quote]
    Nope I get 1/5 replies!

If I see one more "I dont bite (unless you ask" joke on girls profile I will chew my own arm off. Well probably not but its strange how simmilar many profiles are.

Guys do this too. Actually most of the things that annoy guys about girls profiles is the same the other way around. Although guys lists of demands aren't usually as long. :pac:

I'm chatting to a really nice guy. Just sorting out when to meet up. eek. Afraid I've already jinxed it by mentioning it here.

Computer gaming has changed in the past few years. It's no longer just guys who lock themselves in their rooms and don't socialise etc.

The majority of lads will play them on a social level, not for hours on end but to kill time, in the same way they might watch TV etc.

I wonder if Lana Del Rey is on OkCupid...

Do people, girls mainly I imagine, date more than one guy at the same time?
I don't know how comfortable I'd be with that, either seeing more than one person at the same time or the person I'm dating doing it.

Some people do, but personally I think it hinders getting to know a person because then there is always someone else waiting in the wings so to speak.

Its a tricky one. You don't want to put all your eggs into the one basket. . .

    Same.

Actually, what amazes me is that I actually still am getting women making an effort in their messages, since I put a filter of a minimum of 50 characters.

    If only.

What I seem to see alot is either : I amnt like all other guys or I am just your average guy
Nearly every second profile has that,
I did see one profile where he said I like guy stuff- my mind was in the gutter that day I remember thinking well I dont have guy stuff, only lady parts here! It did make me chuckle though!

Some of my messages would be quite short but they would be focusing in on a part of a person's profile and usually have a humorous element to them.

But having counted the characters above, they would probably go over the 50 character mark, just. :)

God last time I saw u ye had a big beard and worked in a sweet shop ha time sure flys by

Needless to say, a response will not be swift.

There was one who just said hello the other night, was tempted to reply back "Is it you I'm looking for?" but didn't.

When I was dating I did, I don't see it as an issue. One of the guys I went on a date with was doing the same!

One of my friends went on a date with a guy one Sat night, all good so far. they were texting on the Sun, then about half 7 he texts her Hey (insert another girl's name), sorry I'm running late for meeting you see you at 8... stung :D

OUCH! Yeah it can be confusing!!! You have to be on the ball... I generally wouldn't tell other guys, but some assume and if the asked I would say it. The guy I was most recently seeing had no clue and didn't question as we didn't meet online!

  • Registered Users Posts: 494 ✭✭missbelle

I did it once, was meeting one guy on a Fri night for drinks, and a diff one Sat for lunch, was watching what I said during the dates :)
Neither transpired to a 2nd date though :p
