Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thanks Gabby1205 for the info on R&R cost. Unfortunately I am already overstretched with the bank as I'm a single girl, serious mortgage and huge pay cuts in the past few years so I think a loan will be out of the question.

    I can't believe that because I can't afford to fix what they did to me that I might have to live with these things in me for a few more years till I can get the money together. I was hoping the replacement cost might be about 2,500 to 3,000 which I could probably get together by early next year.

    I hope everyone is staying strong and I am thinking of you all.

    :confused: Guys I've still heard nothing from the clinic in question.... which we can't name. All I read daily around various websites from different counteries is ruptures and gel bleeds so I'm starting to think there's no one person that doesn't have one or the other. Has anyone heard anything yet? Has anyone decided to go the legal route? Any of your girls that did pay yourself can you give any information on what you were told at the time of your consultation?

    I would appreciate any info on replacement cost. No need to mention doctor or clinic as I know there is a legal issue with this. I can get them removed for free but I have no idea of replacement cost. I need to know so I can figure out how long it will take me to get the money together or if its manageable at all. I would really really appreciate any estimates from girls who have had R&R.

    You are right don't listen anybody unless you know the person what surgeon or clinic to go for , I HONESTLY THINK BE AWARE GIRLS AS I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY CLINICS ON THIS SITE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE BUSINESS OUT OF YOU !! Make your own decision and do a great research on product !! ;)good luck
    Girls,
    I paid just under 6000 euros a lot of money for r&r as I was referred to this cosmetic surgeon by hosp. In Dublin where I had MRI this hosp. only deals with reconstruction and this particular surgeon mainly deals with reconstruction of cancer patients aswell. I was shocked at the price but honestly he is an excellent surgeon a perfectionist. I had to go to the banks and will be paying back for 5 years;( but I can sleep at night now;)

    Hi Gabby1205

    Could you possibly PM me the contact details of your surgeon. I was quoted 7200 from a similar surgeon who operates from a private hospital in Limerick. He too does a lot of reconstruction surgery and has a very good reputation but the cost is so expensive I am finding it difficult to raise that amount. Any other info with regard to recovery time etc would be appreciated also.

    why dont a few of you get together and go to a doc and look for a discount based on numbers..
    It might bring down the cost a bit, obviously get a cost for a single person first..

    Hi All,

    just read the above report and thought I would share it - very interesting reading for anyone with PIPs. Have posted the summary below and full report can be read on
    http://www.dh.gov.uk/prod_consum_dh/groups/dh_digitalassets/@dh/@en/documents/digitalasset/dh_134657.pdf

    "We have carefully reviewed the available evidence on breast implants from the company Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP), including the results of additional studies commissioned since our interim report in January. We have concluded that
    • rigorous world-wide chemical and toxicological analyses of a wide variety of PIP implants have not shown any evidence of significant risk to human health;
    • there is no reason to believe that further testing will change this conclusion, given the results of the chemical analysis and the number of batches that have now been tested world-wide, which have all reached a similar conclusion;
    • PIP implants are significantly more likely to rupture or leak silicone than other implants, by a factor of around 2-6, and this difference is detectable within 5 years of implantation;
    • in a proportion of cases, failure of the PIP implant results in local reactions but these are readily detected by outward clinical signs – “silent” ruptures (ruptures which come to light only on explantation) are not generally associated with these local reactions.

    In sum, PIP implants are clearly substandard although there is no evidence of a significant increased risk of clinical problems in the absence of rupture.
    In the light of these conclusions we reiterate and amplify our previous advice that:
    • all providers of breast implant surgery should contact any women who have or may have PIP implants– if they have not already done so – and offer them a specialist consultation and any appropriate investigation to determine if the implants are still intact;
    • if the original provider is unable or unwilling to do this, a woman should seek referral through her GP to an appropriate specialist;
    • if there is any sign of rupture, she should be offered an explantation;
    • if the implants still appear to be intact she should be offered the opportunity to discuss with her specialist the best way forward, taking into account the factors listed in paragraph 33 of this report;
    • if in the light of this advice a woman decides with her specialist that, in her individual circumstances, she wishes to have her implants removed her healthcare provider should support her in carrying out this surgery. Where her original provider is unable or unwilling to help, the NHS will remove but not normally replace the implant;
    • if a woman decides not to seek early explantation, she should be offered annual follow up in line with the advice issued by the specialty surgical associations in January 2012 (see para 4). Women who make this choice should be encouraged to consult their doctor if they notice any signs of tenderness or pain, or swollen lymph glands in or around their breasts or armpits, which may indicate a rupture. At the first signs of rupture, they should be offered removal of the implants
    ."

    The report also recognises that anxiety itself is a form of health risk and that this is reason enough for a woman to have her implants removed (if this is what she wants) even if they haven't ruptured.

    Evening ladies, hope you're all doing well.

    As you know, we've gotten orders from higher up to say all legal advice and naming of clinics/doctors etc is not allowed on this forum as it puts Boards.ie in a tricky position. However, we recognise that this thread has been a wonderful source of support and information as well as an outlet for you all to complain about this disgraceful situation. With the limitations we've put in place, we're not entirely sure that this thread serves its purpose any more.

    We mods have had a lengthy debate about it, and have decided that in 1 week's time (Monday 2nd July) we will close this thread and it will be time for ye to move on to a new community. You have the option of making your own forum, or a facebook page, or something similar, if you wish to continue to provide support to each other. There are many free forum hosters, such as Invisionfree, ZetaBoards, or Forumotion.

    We're sorry that it has to come to this, but we hope you can understand. Feel free to ask any questions relating to this decision, and we'll do our best to answer.

    With best wishes for everything in the future from the mod team in tLL,

    Fluorescence, Ickle Magoo, Maple, rainbow kirby, whoopsadaisydoodles and Wibbs
