Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just bought a 6230 thought tit was sim free but its locked to voda, the unlocking codes dont work now it needs to be unlocked via cable anyone know any place in cork where i can get it done?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 328 ✭✭dublin_apache

I used to use a free unlocking site for unlocking the Nokia remotely, but they are charging $1.99 now which I suppsoe is not bad, I can't find any free Nokia unlocking sites. But I have a Nokia calcualator that does the 6230 free.

If you want powerhousedan you could pm me your imei number and I'll do it for ya.

I done my own 6230 with it.

    <edit>

 Sorry I didn't read your post properly, did you try the wrong code on it 5 times and now the phone is locked up ?

Anyone interested in unlocking there nokia 6230 which is a Type ASIC 6 phone can do it here online for free.... HERE
Do the usual stuff but make sure where it says "GEN" that you select ASIC 6 instead of NEW GRIFFIN and pick model number of phone also(6230) and just calculate code....

    goodluck...

I know if you enter the wrong code in 5 times on a 5210 for example, if you were to get it unlocked via a clip unlocker it would sort it, but that could be just with the Dct-3's, I'm not 100% about the Dct-4's...

Ring Meteor and ask them to unlock it for you, they will unlock it if you have spent a certain amout on your bill/account.

If you haven't spent the proper amount and you want to get this phone unlocked if would have to be unlocked via test point (€25), it can't be unlocked remotely at the moment, well Meteor could do it remotely.

    Anyone know.
Either a bill or a PAYG vodafone one.

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,006 ✭✭✭mad m

well if you have enough call credit used with Vodafone(think its over 100 to 150euro)you can ring them and they will help you unlock it overphone,as a bill i think it goes without saying they will unlock it too.As far as unlocking yourself, cables and right software it can be easy.

I can't do the Gx30's myself but they can be unlocked with an unlocking clip etc...

I think I know a few ppl who can do that model so I'll ask around...

But like I said to mic_d ring your network and ask them to unlock it for you, they will unlock it if you have spent a certain amout on your bill/account.

How did he give you the code ? Did he ask you for your IMIE number ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 704 ✭✭✭rander00

Yeah,,, gave him the IMEI and he got codes from there.

Oh cool, yeah you should be able to just enter the code he gave you into the phone.

But, try the code once then try a o2 sim in it first just to make sure it's 100% unlocked...

If it doesn't unlock the first time it might be the wrong code so get back on to your mate or if you enter the wrong code by mistake  , so just be careful, that's an expensive phone ya have there ;) ...

I've had a speakeasy account with o2 for about 4 years now, and have bought SIM free phones in the interim, however I bought a sony ericsson T230 last week as it was such a good deal with the free call credit, but when I got it home I realised it was SIM locked! I use a UK SIM card quite a lot so it aint much good to me.

Does anyone know if o2 will unlock it for me?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 66 ✭✭e38418

dunno bout o2 but some small phoneshops or the local phonestand should do.got mine done last week for £10

There's a thread floating around on here somewhere that details unlocking different brands of phone: not sure on this but I think Sony/Ericsson handsets need to be unlocked using a data cable, whereas Nokia and some other brands can be unlocked with codes available from the 'net.

O2 will unlock the phone only after you've spent €100 on call credit (including the free €70) if you apply in writing to them.

    Howdy all,

I have a small problem regarding unlocking a Nokia 3220! I bought it on O2 for my girlfriend for christmas -cause it was cheaper than Meteor) thinking I could unlock it easily enough (shes Meteor) but I cant find what phone type it is (I presumed it would be the same as the Nokia 3200 i.e. phone type 2 but the codes arent working) and as I understand you only get 5 attempts to unlock a phone!!

So can anyone help unlock this bad boy??

    Many thanks in advance

Anyone have any ideas on how to unlock a Nokia 8260?

Its an American phone used on the At&T cell network. My dad has just got a new phone and is back in Ireland with this one- Just wondering whther it will work over here with an Irish SIM?

    Cheers for the help

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭wolfman

The unlocking isnt too difficult, but as far as I know, that phone will not operate here due to the frequencies used here

Maybe somebody else could clarify this

Regarding the unlocking, if the phone WILL work here, I can either calculate a code for you, or send you a link to a program which will do it
