Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's ok. I didn't want to eat next week or the week after anyway.

Is it just me who thinks €100 for an outdoors standing ticket is a bit on the steep side?

    Not just you. Rip off.

Feck sake 100 quid for one ticket a few days before Christmas? I hope Santa is generous to me.

If the gig does sell out next week, what would your chances be to get a ticket between Jan and July?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭Always_Running

A bit pricey alright was €76.50 for the last Irish gig they had in 2009. Might be their last Irish gig and few better bands live so count me in.

    Too old and too expensive.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24,878 ✭✭✭✭arybvtcw0eolkf

Seen them in the RDS Oct 22nd 1982 :D

But at a starting price of €87:50 they can ram this gig up their arses ~ thats WAY too expensive.

it is ....total rip off, I know it makes business sense but it's also immoral

Probably cost about £10 back then

I think I got the tickets and hash (when you could buy a 'five-spot') for £15 punts :D

Dissappointed with the venue choice. Was hoping they would play Slane

How many does the Aviva hold for a gig?

Depending on production layout on the pitch, it can usually hold anywhere between 50,000 and 55,000.

The only reason I think they might have chosen the Aviva is that they could possibly multiple nights. Slane was meant for bands like AC/DC, kind of a shame they ain't playing there.
Based on the ticket price it's safe to say AC/DC couldn't really give a crap about the venue as long as they make as much money as possible.

    Madness.

Slane should be retired as a venue. The Aviva is perfect for this.

Missed the gig in 2009 because of my leaving cert and probably going to miss this one now because times are tough. Hopefully they will come back when their in their 80's :pac: :(

No it's not, Slane is ****e. Leave it to the likes of Hozier and the Kaiser Chiefs.

You can say all you want about ticket prices being too high, but this will sell on in a few minutes, guaranteed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭charlietheminxx

I hate short notice gig ticket sales like this, feck sake "here's a gig, it's going to sell out, you have 5 days to come up with a spare €100 the week before Xmas! Woohoo!".

Luckily my mam is also a fan and said she'd get me a ticket when she's buying hers, to be repaid in January when I am broke and miserable anyway!

One of these months it might cut down on admin if I just get my wages paid directly to ticketmaster and sort out all my gigs and fests for next summer :P

    @ Charlietheminxx.

Did you just say your Mammy is going to buy you an AC/DC ticket?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭charlietheminxx

I most certainly did... What's wrong with that?

£8.50. You'd get 20 fags from the change.

No. It won't. Be plenty of tickets left over right up until July for this!

I'd just about suffer paying the money because my husband is a fan, he's never seen them live. Are they worth the money? I don't mind paying for a really good show but don't want to do so if they just go through the motions.

As much as I hope your right, i doubt it. AC/Dc hardly ever play in Ireland. They are probably even bigger now than they were back in 09

Was in the pit for them in 2009 and they are worth the money.

Did they sell out Punchestown in 2009? What's the capacity of gigs, there 70k?

I am tempted but could do without spending it right now

70k officially but it looked like more.

Feck sake! My favourite band, never seen 'em live - I'll be on J1 for this :(

Did it sell out though or rather, sell out quick? Google isn't really tell me, only that the o2 gig sold out quick.

The Aviva must be around 60k capacity so not far off.

last two Irish gigs were gone in no time....the o2 in seconds which built up sales for punchestown.

for a big gig like this, there'll be spare tickets floating around on Toutless in the run up to it....

It's on a Wednesday too. Might put a few off. But if it does sell out it leaves room for a second date maybe? London could definitely get a second date for the Sunday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 105 ✭✭stitcheddepin

you're kidding yourselves if you don't think this will sell out in a day.
hopefully they announce another one also, although they are fairly old and frail.
total rip off price, extortion, but il pay it as they are sure to be gig of the year, better than poo fighters any day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,993 ✭✭✭griffin100

Last time out the O2 sold out in minutes, Punchestown still had tickets on sale close to the date. I think this one will sell out quick, maybe if it does they'll put on a second one. I'll be bringing my 9 year old son to this, it'll be his last chance to see them and he loves them.

I seen them in 1991,1996 and at both Irish gigs in 2009. I was in the pit at Punchestown. Every gig was amazing but the O2 in 2009 was probably the best..........no wait the 96 gig when Angus appeared beside me in the crowd on that raised platform he uses and I was so close his sweat fell on me was the best......no it was Punchestown in the rain which was epic.......fcuk it they were all great gigs! Jesus I'm so excited, I feel like Elf in the movie when he finds out Santa is coming to the store :)

Took a good while to sell out punchestown. I remember as I had queued early in the morning for them and was annoyed that I had put in the effort for nothing

Im sorry lads but if you spend €87.50 to stand in the aviva for a few hours...Ya need your head examined...Im a fan but jabus christ!!

About 2 hours off the top of my head.

They better have decent support this time.
