Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Someone needs to tell those two to get a room!

Also got a reply about those stupid or "smart" traffic lights.
The lights at this location are “Smart Lights” that change depending on the queue of traffic waiting at each road. They prioritise the road with the longest queue at any given time. E.g. the lights will stay green for a longer period in favour of the road with 20 vehicles waiting than a road with 5 vehicles in the queue. The priority changes at different times of the day depending on the traffic volumes at that time. No one road is give priority over the other.

Anyone see what those eejits in the county council are doing now? Putting a pedestrian crossing at the roundabout near Collins bar! Really, like? Could they not find better ways to spend their budget!

The city and county councils see no potential safety issue by dumping pedestrian crossing right on the exits/entrances of roundabouts. It is not as though some of the roundabouts in Limerick had obstructed views that would prevent a motorist doing the legal limit from seeing a pedestrain using the crossing until the last second forcing the motorist to slam on the brakes which could put the pedestrain, the motorist and other vehicles all in danger.

    Hi there,
I am very sorry for jumping onto your thread, but I'm looking for people that know Limerick and by the sounds of things you really do.. I have just moved to Castletroy and I am working near Thomond park. I need to get the bus/buses to work and was wondering if anybody knows where the bus for Thomond area would leave from?
Once again apologies for jumping in but I cant figure out the Bus Eireann timetables..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

If you go to the Large Dunnes on Henry St. THe busses for Ballananty, Cravel Park, And Pineview gardens should bring you up right past it, and I think the Chardavin one does too, or if not, it lets you right down the road!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

The 308 and 308A goes from UL to the city centre.

The 303 goes from Henry street (by the Dunnes stores that Snipe mentioned) to Ballynanty and has a stop near Thomond Park.

There are one or two other buses routes that might fit in with your route, but those two seem to cover it handily enough.

The 302 (Caherdavin) bus passes Thomond Park as well. It leaves Dunnes on Henry St every 20 minutes during the day. The choice of which to take would depend on where you're working in relation to the stadium.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭The Snipe

The Chardavin one would probably be best even, as its always there in comparision to the other busses!

If you are fit enough for it, then try a series of short runs. You have the Baggot estate right beside you for some daytime runs. I assume that as a local you would know the old walk fairly well, so just use that. Or just go in a straight line down the main lane from the top of Portland Park, go to the end and then back. It would be a short run (a little short of a mile) when down and back are added together. It would also give you an idea of your fitness levels if you wanted to then put a running programme together for yourself.

Get a weight set and set it up in your shed, and start a proper light exercise routine. You would be amazed at how much tension you can get rid of that way, plus it would be doing you good.

Failing all that you could try the "Attack Kess in the street" strategy.:D Cannot guarantee any sort of long term benefit to such a strategy, but it would bring your rage and angst to a very abrupt end :p

As Josey Wales wisely noted: Dyin' ain't much of a living boy

Get a decent pair of runners, do your stretches and warm ups, then get yourself out for a short run. Works marvels.
