Any idea what the yellow things are around the wheels of 14 are?

The yellow (painted on the vertical damper support bracket) denotes that the unit is fitted with the new type of axle box grease.

Looks like the bottom of the bracket for the damper on the primary suspension

Its just the unit is clean that you can see it, others have a bit of yellow as well,

If you look at the units when delivered in 2007 they didn't have yellow on the bogies. Looks to be a new thing as The Wanderer said above.

Up to lately its timetable had been pushed back an hour later so it could meet the passengers comming off the boat at rosslare so i was suprised to see her back in old time slot. Must have been a summer thing and reverted back to old timetable 1st of september.

Not photos but videos. These are all taken on the northern line, Howth Branch and Maynooth line. Oldest is from 1983/1984 just before the launch of the DART. The rest are early/mid 90's. They were only made public today.

True, there is no "scheduled" 2 car trains booked to stop in Portarlington. But...

1 - this is a standard sign and has already gone through the various crossing the t's and dotting the i's etc etc. Why spend time and money designing a new one?

2 - 2 car trains MAY call at Portarlington from time to time. 2600 or 2800 class DMU's covering reliefs or failures ex Limerick or Galway / Westport services. It has happened several times before.

Therefore the sign does cover all eventualities which may occur into the future.

The sign is also excellently placed (I did have some doubts) for the rear of 4ICR to be at the Cork end of Portarlington's Platform 1.

    Evening all,

Further to the update today at lunchtime.

Tonight features an evening visit to Monasterevin, Kildare and the Curragh, primarily to see the delayed 1130 Westport - Waterford Timber at Kildare, plus the 201's on the 1700 and 1800 Heuston - Cork services. The timber train had to abandon two wagons in Kildare due to a defect on one of them.
