Fas has 2607 jobs that pay at least minimum wage but a massive 2193 ‘jobs’ that are unpaid or internship ‘job’.
Including 429 CE (employment program )scheme jobs,
56 Work Placement Program 1, (unpaid)
101 Work Placement Program 2, (unpaid)
    1607 National Internship (€50 a week)

Yet, again ordinary taxpayers pick up the bill. Why should an employer pay someone to do a job when they can get someone to do it for free/50 euro a week? Is it a waste of time to be looking for a paying job?

Because internships are supposed to be work experience. Shelf stacking jobs / "fast food technician" jobs are clearly taking the piss and should be clamped down on.

I have one jobbridge intern working for my 1 man software company. He works on whatever takes his fancy (in the field of software ofc) and I help him out. This is actually a net drain on the company as it takes time away from my real paying work. I try to get him involved in the real work but it's too specialised, so he is learning the basics instead.

Worse than that, some of the jobs are just companies going under looking for slaves to work for basically free.

Now the company has to try to keep itself up so the real blame IMO lies with Jobsbridge which has no quality control whatsoever.

Here sign your name to this petition and send a message to the Government that changes need to be made to this scheme. It could be of real value for real internships but it is being taken advantage of by employers...
