    I find it quite mind boggling that wagons were purchased for a project that was never going to happen - the dogs in the street knew it but not the 'planners' in CIE.

    The spoil wagons are needed for more than just Dart Underground. They'll be used across the network in place of the existing spoil train, which is formed of ex-Barytes wagons originally introduced in 1968. These are long past overdue for replacement.

    Ever wondered what the inside of the LMS station on North Wall Quay looks like? Just came across this;

    Had no idea they're turning it into a market.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but is that their former hotel and office building, not the station building?

    I see it's a 15mph TSR over the bridge in that first pic, not the 5mph PSR that's on it these days.

    The 5 MPH was probably imposed not too long after a boat collided with the bridge around (I think) 1986. There was a lot of damage done and the line was closed for some time before it was safe to . I've a copy of IRRS journal around here with finer details which I'll try dig up for you.

    Is that the old Irish Rail offices before they moved to Inchicore?

    Sure it was HB. Sure it was. All Evil Leo's fault. Nothing to do with the Irish banks in the consortia being unfit for purpose and so on. Okey doke.

    Freight, Infrastructure and Property were down on North Wall Quay AFAI recall so maybe it was indeed there.

    I originally put it on the wiki article for the EMD 645 engine as the todo list suggested adding a photo of the engine type (I did the same for the EMD 710 article with a photo of 213's engine). Someone later added it to the Prime Mover page. Had to crop it slightly but still have the original.

    Got into a 22k cab for a chat with the driver. He showed me the workings of it. Very impressive and so simple.

    Another one for fans of the A-class or lost branchlines - A30 on an enthusiast (?) special at Mountmellick in 1961. The good old days when there was still somewhere worth going to on railtours. Slide currently for sale on eBay.
