Im considering growing a beard... about the same length as this http://www.polichicksonline.com/George%20Clloney%20beard.jpg

Nothing too hairy... i have dirty blonde hair, and a darkish beard not blonde bum fluff :D

The main reason im wanting to grow it is to look older as im very young for my line of work and sometimes cant get taken seriously because of it, if girls find beards attractive its an added bonus!

Personally i think beards are really attractive as long as they are really well kept/trimmed- but it really does depend on the man - they just reallly don't suit some people. Give it a go anyway - you'll soon see when its growing if its going to suit you or not and I'm sure the peolple around you will let you know too:)

Can't say I hate them as such. Ex had one and I loved him, didn't mind the beard, but beard rash is ouch.

Not true. I have a beard, nice and full now thankfully. Kept well trimmed and close to my face ( not as close as old Gerogeous up there, that just stubble tbh ). I have no complaints because my facial hair is all soft and lovely, not sharp and stabby.:)

I love my OH's beard, doesn't bother me at all!

What about "stylish stubble" that is a cm or two long?

Personally, I like my bit of facial hair. I'd never shave it just to get a girl.

Secret i've always found is a carefully trimmed upper lip - makes a huge difference for kissing. As for the beard thing, think it depends on how the guy looks with it - I remember having significantly better luck ever since I grew it, but that could simply be down to being older, more outgoing and more self confident (big difference between 18/19 and 21/22 in those cateogries :D)

It's not 'not true' I've kissed guys with beards and I don't like the beard rash it gives, I'm hardly making that up :P You're lucky that you have soft hair but I wouldn't say all bearded men have a nice beard like yours so my first impression would be 'no' to kissing a bearded man.

Absolutely gorgeous,.....If I walk into a pub/club its the people with the stubble/beard I notice first.......
    very attractive.

it depends on the face. some men can look hot, some can just look scruffy & lazy.

though when i say hot i think its just men with stubble. dont think ive ever seen a man with a beard & thought he was hot.

plus - kissing a beard, yuck.

I quite enjoy a bit of stubble myself... Some of the massive beards can be a bit weird though. I love facial hair, it's just lovely!

    hmmmm

grow it and see does it make a difference! people will still know how young you are!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,196 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Hehe you'd be surprised. I'm quite baby faced (I think, havent seen without a goatee in a while) and the beard does make a significant difference in what age people think I am.

By the way, this thread has reminded me that I need to trim my beard, thanks! :P

I love beards. And, as Dragan said, once it gets past the stubbly stage they don't hurt anymore and you don't get beard rash from kissing. It actually feels quite nice.

Firstly why is there a pic of a bloke fisting his own arsehole ?

Secondly, Brothers... Use conditioner on your beard, it helps alot.

I've gotten a lot of compliments from friends and girls when I let my facial hair grow a little or to a decent length but my Ex-gf used to get a little annoyed when kissing and such. same goes for another girl I kissed a while ago.
I think as long as it is not a big mess that has the potential of a brillo pad then girls may not mind and if you begin to see someone they will say if it's a problem.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭mollybird

    HELL NO!!!
my man knows i like to see no hair. 2 weeks ago he came home from work and i had not seen him in a week and it was the worst id ever seen him. i gave him his marching orders to get rid of it and he did straight away:)

Being in possession of a beard, not dissimilar to mr clooney above(in beard stylee alone I'm afraid), women seem to divide into two camps, love it or hate it. That said I had an ex that hated it and was always at me to remove same. I resisted. :) Once I shaved it and she didn't even notice! When I pointed it out she was happy enough but then didn't mind when it grew back. I suspect it was more a control thing with that particular wan.:D Then again, after we went our separate ways her next two blokes had them so.....

The length is a biggy. Once it goes beyond a certain length bread rash is a lot less an issue. Depends on the woman too. Some are more sensitive than others.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Really not a fan of beards at all, they're a massive turn off actually. Some mild facial hair is fine and can give the wearer a lovely laid back I'm-to-cool-to-care-like-me-or-leave-me look but a full-on face mop is just bleugh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,440 ✭✭✭GirlInterrupted

I LOVE a beard of the Clooney persuasion, but not a long one.

Especially not if its dirty, contains crumbs, is wiry, is nicotine stained, and if its gelled into topiary shapes, forget it!

George is pretty pretty with or without, and I prefer with. Actually it doesn't matter as long as he whispers to me in that voice...

Mine too, which is one of the reasons I'll never have one. It might be ok if I had ginger hair, but it looks stupid when my hair's dark brown. The longest i've ever gone without shaving is a week, and I hated the feel of it. A day or two of stubble is fine, but I've a very fast growth and any longer than that and it starts to become uncomfortable. Not a fan of facial hair at all.

I think about 6 weeks is the longest I ahve gone without shaving

I am a naturally lazy creature so when the point comes that I actually have to start maintaining my facial hair I generally just shave, I figure if i am going to ahve to put effort in I may as well just shave

Besides I don't think it suits me much and makes me look a lot older

I like having a beard, it keeps my face warm, but I just couldn't put up with the ginge. I might have to shave or shorten my locks too they are getting a bit rusty. :(

Personally, I HATE beards. I think they make men look messy and lazy and or like a hobo no matter how well kept they are. I also don't like the way they feel on my face. I imagine kissing a guy with a beard feels the same way as giving head to a woman. It's not my thing at all. I prefer clean shaven. And everyone who's kissed someone with any length of stubble (and even a beard) knows that it's like kissing different grains of sand paper. It can rub your chin and cheeks raw and can even create pimples that wouldn't have been there without the facial hair.

Depends on the bloke imo, some blokes look fantastic with beards :)
