big deal this , first step to Mars

    some background....

The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) is a spacecraft intended to carry a crew of up to 4[2] astronauts to destinations beyond-low Earth orbit (LEO). Currently under development by NASA[8] for launch on the Space Launch System,[9] Orion will facilitate human exploration of the Moon, asteroids and Mars.

Any idea if it will be televised? (say on Sky or BBC news...) My 2-year-old is obsessed with rockets (yaay!), and if he can see this on his auntie's big flat-screen, it will make his day!

I can't watch it myself, so does anyone know if there's some sort of live blog?

    Range Goes Red

The Eastern Range has just called a fouled range due to a boat that has strayed into the prohibited zone over the Atlantic. The rocket cannot lift off until the boat clears the area.

Gah no sound at work, good way to follow it on the liveblog here though:

This is historic stuff, imagine the thread we'll have here when its pulling into Mars orbit and getting ready to release the lander with a human crew.

Another wind limit violation was recorded and the countdown was halted.

    Aaaaagh!!!!

Can you imagine the frustration?

    High wind hold again.

Another abort. A gust of wind again. Will they get another opportunity to go in this launch window?

Great looking craft by the way, looks like every "near-future" science fiction ship that NASA launches in various sci-fi films.

Absolutely. If they could just get if off the ground now it would be great :pac:

At least they don't have any technical issues. It's all weather related.

    Orion blog:
The weather system over the launch site that is producing the wind gusts that have scrubbed the first two tries this morning is forecast to break in the next 45 minutes to an hour, reports Kathy Winters, weather officer with the 45th Weather Squadron. Our launch window this morning extends to 9:44 a.m. EST.
