Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Easons actually have a pretty bad selection.
Mostly the American manga, and a few Chobits and Fruits Basket here and there.
I was able to get two volumes of Wish by CLAMP down there for fifteen euro though, so I guess it's not that bad.

Vibes 'n Scribes on Patrick's Hill in Cork have some anime upstairs.

Zavvi previously virgin are now dedicating a section to anime and manga and at first looks they have all the generic brands but speaking to one of the guys that works there is will be look to increae this if the demand is there and they will also have the ability to order some stuff for you if it is not in stock for no extra charge. cool huh

Remember a few years ago when GAME used to stock some anime titles. I wonder what happened to that...

They even sold some art books too according to some friends of mine.

Crow's corner has dropped the price on most of it's Manga Books to a Fiver.
I picked up a few Srg frogs there over the weekend.
    Well worth a look.

anyone know where i could get deathnote?! i've got the first 3 from france, but i can't find them in Ireland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,699 ✭✭✭Brian

Other Realms in Cork sell Death Note. It's a popular manga, I would imagine most places that sell any manga would stock Death Note.

HMV are ridiculously expensive. They were selling Samurai X for 99 odd euro when I got it on Amazon for less than 50. Also I dont like the way a lot of anime is edited so I find it safer (and cheaper) to import or download. Tower Records would be my pick if I was gonna buy any DVDs here though

I thought only Easons did Manga. Thanks for that, mate.

Border's in Blanchardstown has a really good selection and I find them to be reasonably priced as well, your looking at around ten or 12 for a book.

Not everyone... but most of us are! :P

With manga and anime the price it is here Im not suprised that most people choose to download it or read/watch online. Im not advocating stealing licensed anime/manga but unlicensed is AFAIK fair game.

And when manga costs the same here as it does elsewhere (3-5 euro) Ill buy it instead. Until then, the internet is my friend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 676 ✭✭✭ayumi

dere given to the website and even if dere licenced their allowed to put on the website as the company allowed the issue of the manga on that website, also its translated such website is mangafox :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭fitz0

Ah but downloading is another matter altogether. Im pretty sure thought that some companies are very much against fansubs of their anime or their manga. I cant see Tite Kubo freely handing out Bleach to websites when he makes so much off selling it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭Art_Wolf

I would be *very* surprised if Mangafox holds the licenses for all the series that they host.. Google adverts certainly would not pay enough to cover them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22 irishharpie

They don't hold the license.... it's simply scanlation's that people have scanned onto their computer, edited in photoshop or movie maker (say translated or fixed the colouring) and then they simple host them up on the site, hoping that the show or manga doesn't get licensed.

Way too overpriced there. Check out the internet for more friendly prices.

The internet is far better. I've been getting my manga off an e-bay shop for the best part of a year, and I only half to pay about seven euro each. Much better when you compare it to ten-eleven euro.

play.com are decent too but are woeful when you're looking for a newly released volume, then they take forever!

but if you're looking for back dated, already released stuff then you're good to go

Art_Wolf, I'm afraid Gamer's Realm in Galway is gone, time for another list update!

*edit* Oh, and The 3rd Place in Dublin is gone too afaik, though hopefully there's a new store opening in the not too distant future.

Had a tiny bit, only one I can remember from there was Lone Wolf and Cub.

Picked up 10 manga books in Charlie Byrnes in Galway last week - don't forget second hand book shops folks!

Just been looking through the listing on the first post and Waterford needs a little update. Sinnotts closed ages ago, but there is a shop which sells manga which could be added in its place. Tall Tales bookshop, 30 Michael Street. Tel: 051 873967.

Well I picked up Samurai Deeper Kyo which is recent. I think everything else was about the same age, not sure though.

Kahless, do Tall Tales have much? I forgot Sinotts had closed :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 314 ✭✭Elle Victorine

The Waterford one is very questionable too lads. It has like a section with those overpriced foreign movies and a box st or two or compilations. Possibly studio gibli stiff now but it's woeful.

I've only been in once and it's the only shop selling manga I've been in for years, so I don't know how it compares, but it's not huge or anything. And it is only manga, no dvds.

Tower don't do manga, only anime.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭fitz0

Forbidden planet arent bad. Do they still do the 3 manga for €25? Otherwise the interweb is the place to go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭lanysmiles:)

try amazon for fairly decently priced manga, as long as you but in bulk the postage isnt too bad, and anime try play.com (although they takes AGES to post anything) >:| or hmv or virgin somewhere. :)

Cool I am checking those out now! I usually watch my anime at Watch Cartoons Online they have some cool ones like dragon ball z and some other cool cartoons. I either go there or hulu.com

Waterstones in Cork does some manga. Easons used to but no longer does.

I wish there was some kind of group for anime/manga in Cork.

Hodges Figgis is probably your best be for prices in dublin, almost all of their manga is €7.20, plus they've got a reward card that gets you €10 off for every €80 spent there and they'll order anything in for you. Most of the stuff it up to date, like I got Naruto 45 and Bleach 27 in there in the last week :D. Plus they've a nice graphic novel section beside it. It's just off grafton st. at 56-58 Dawson Street, Dublin 2. +353 (0)1 677-4754

Not in Ireland but this website:

    http://www.bookdepository.co.uk

have a good selection of manga. Their prices are cheap, they have free delivery to Ireland and they don't inflate the prices when you convert the currency.
