We'll see if the government dare now to introduce methods of payment that SF obviously got wind off.
Just look at what this government tried to get away with charging and doing (PPS numbers) from the begining and what they are now about to propose and tell me the opposition are not working and succeeding on behalf of their voters.
It remains to be seen if this whole shambles doesn't collapse taking the coalition with it.

I normally vote for anyone except for FF and SF - that's all

I thought that Sinn Fein were improving but have a pain in my (ear) hole from listening to the the likes of Mary Lou Macdonald whinge bagging around the place .

I want to state for the record that I myself voted for Sean Barrett among my top four in the last general election, and as someone who voted for him and his party I am absolutely disgusted at his behavior. The fact that he will be returned automatically at the next election assuming he doesn't retire or resign his post as Ceann Comhairle in the meantime is particularly galling, we won't get the opportunity to voice our displeasure with him by ensuring he gets as few transfers or votes as possible (yet another example of how the "democracy only once every few years" concept leads to accountability for no one). This is far from the first time he has displayed obvious bias in his upholding of the rules.

The established parties are facing a backlash and don't like it. Watch their tactics get more agressive and watch come general election the dirt that will be thrown by all sides.

I am like you. I have voted for every political party over the years bar Sinn Fein, there is nothing that could make me vote for them while the leaders of violence are still there and it is a long, long time since I voted for FF, sometime in the 1980s.

Have voted PDs, Greens, Labour, FG and independents (just once, a wasted vote) over the years. The choice nowadays is very limited with the disappearance of the PDs and Greens. Will probably vote Green No.1 at the next election even though their candidate won't have a chance and continue preferences to FG. Would vote for a genuine socialist party which favoured property tax and water charges like every other genuine socialist party in the world but there are none of those in Ireland.

Always had you down as an FGer - why is it that you seem to endlessly defend every bit of stupidity and incompetence that emanates from our current administration? Until recently you've defended much of the IW shambles, you seemed to be firmly in the pro-Shatter camp when he was exposed as a bumbling muppet earlier in the year, you seem to generally defend FG's treatment of the opposition with contempt and their contempt for parliament...?

Any time I or others have posted criticisms of our current government especially where cronyism and corruption are concerned I tend to notice you relate it back to a previous incident involving FF. While not denying that I despise FF with a fiery passion words can't describe, the fact that you seem to often deflect criticism of FG by bringing up past FF transgressions is one of the main reasons I've always had you down as a supporter.

Why so loathe to criticize our government, if not a party hack? Genuinely curious - is it because you fear that bashing the current government automatically equates to support for the opposition? In my view, it's perfectly possible to regard the entire political clique of this country as a disaster, so that really shouldn't be much of a concern...
