Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think all the acts would have been better singing on their own tonight

WHAT is going on with Sharon's accent?!?

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

Should the public not hear all the singers on their own and then later sing with the mentors when the voting is done?

The judges singing was just so self-indulgent, bluegh.

Besides the fact that all the contestants were better than every single one of the judges, so it was a bad idea all round really.

Eoghan/Eoin (dunno how he spells it) is one major wreck the head.

Seems like there's a bit more to Eoghan McDermott that just the on screen tool that we see...
McDermott completed his dance training at the Broadway Dance Center and has worked as a dancer and choreographer, supporting acts such as Rihanna, Pussycat Dolls and Chris Brown.

I thought he was a bit too good at the dancing bit alright..

This is EXTREMELY unfair on Vanessa... expected to sing in the same key as the guys..

This song highlights how specialised Vanessa's voice is. She can not sing this for the life of her.

I'd say she has hidden talents, you should text in and challenge her to a drinking contest :)

Yeah but you wouldn't ask Pat to sing Nessun Dorma would you? It's a really unfair song choice imo.

    pretty drab final in fairness,
ritchie would be a good replacement for jedward for eurovision in a shiny silver leprechaun suit...

Hold on. That's not a difficult key for any woman to sing in. It's totally mid-range. If she was able to sing anything but opera, she'd be able to handle. But she's not. And that's no one's fault but her own, in fairness.

She prob. only drinks skinny drinks!!

So? If she wins, she'll obviously be recording opera music or songs adapted to that. She won't be singing Elvis with three guys!

I have. And I know lots of Sopranos who'd have no problems singing that song/other songs like it.

My point is you wouldn't ask Catherine Jenkins to sing an Elvis song with Shane Filan, Gary Barlow and Danny from the script and then say she was a bad singer just because she couldn't sing that particular song.

Equally you wouldnt ask Richie, Jim and Pat to sing Time to say goodbye with Vanessa and then say she's the only one who can sing.

If you're trying to drag me into a silly back and forth in which I have to defend the fact that many sopranos are able for songs like that, I'm not playing.

I didn't say she was a bad singer; I said she couldn't sing that song for the life of her cos her voice was so specialised. I also said that no one else was to blame for her never having trained herself/sought training to sing anything but opera. My point remains valid.

Exactly. Because that kind of song requires specialised training. Which is why they picked a more accessible song. It's very straight-forward.

Sorry I'm joining the party late lads.

Have to say I really enjoyed all the performances tonight. I thought they all picked the best songs that most suited their voices and I thought the coaches sounded really well singing with them. I especially loved Bressie and Pat and Richie and Brian (even though I can't stand Brian Kennedy).

    Pat to win!!!

Ps your man Eoghan is also a DJ on XFM in the UK. Who knew?

This whole allusion (from Kathryn mostly) to Bressie being some sort of Irish Bob Rock is getting a bit rich.. I mean he hasnt produced anybody big at all, has he??

Pavarotti wasn't a soprano, he was a tenor.

Here's Pavarotti and James Brown singing together. When it's done right a classical tenor and another type of singer can be brilliant.

the Voice of ****eland is utter crap.

The presenter looks like a horse. Kathryn Thomas

    The judges are utter geebags.

The voiceover is tryin to mimic X Factor UK.

The singers wouldnt get far on the UK version.

    It's utter crap

I don't know but I agree with Mrs D, the stylist should be sacked. Thighs like Chaka Khan !

God I hate Alexandra Burke. She seemed to be so fake when she won the X Factor. Also agree that her stylist should be sacked. I dont think she's a big girl but you'd be forgiven for thinking that she was, in that belly top and shorts...
