Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking forward to the people who were outraged by those who labelled Alan Ryan a scumbag coming to the defence of this scumbag murdered by the other scumbag's gang.

    *waits*

    RIP Eamon

Another one bites the dust etc, one less criminal on the streets.

We should have two types of statistics: gang/criminal scum murdered, innocents murdered.

I'll pay attention to the latter.

What made him gain the title of Ireland's most notorious criminal?

Fair play to them too.. Apparently an armed patrol more than likely ERU, congrats to them. Another head banger off the streets for a few years.

They probably caught him because the peelers tend to have armed units shadowing these guys like bodyguards, just so they don't get whacked.

Maybe today is a cost saving in that regard.

    Not accidentally either.

I have to say I'm stunned - stunned - that those guys aren't on here telling us how upset that guy's family and friends must be, and how we shouldn't believe what the police say about him, and how he's a hero in his community, and various other horsesh!t.

    Where are you guys??

Don't really know, maybe that he has survived this long, as by reports he was up at very top of organised crime gangs in the city/country.

I'd have thought that Fat Freddie was among the worst. Alleged involvement in about a dozen murders in that ongoing feud. Ya know, point being there are more notorious drug lords out there who have never been caught red handed for murders(yet).

Right here. I hung around with his son, and his daughter. Both deceased. Met himself once or twice and he was always gruff, so i've nothing to say about him either way.

well its interesting all the same the evolution of various ira members going on to join criminal gangs. wolfe tone presumably spinning in his grave or on a permanent spin.
they all get so far from republican principles that human life is irrelevant.

I didnt say dont be mean, or be nice. Just saying i knew the man and used to know two of his kids. Yeah, tbh though i'm gonna edit out their names, might be an idea to do the same on your post quoting mine.

The biggest shock is the Gardai actually caught someone for it.

The Gardai are usually very quick to have people for these and much more crimes very quickly usually under a week or less, where have you been..

    Sticky ?

He robbed banks in the 80's which may have helped fund the elections of Worker Party politicians , some of whom are now in government.

Two gardai chased the car, caught one and the other guy got away without burning out the car. I think that's very brave, two unarmed guards chasing down armed cold-blooded murderers.

Killester and Clontarf are in two completely different leagues.

It's like saying Swords and Malahide are the same area. As if.

He was a pioneer of drug smuggling, introduced tiger kidnapping, and inspirational gang boss/organisor, so he would be one of the most notorious as he was big player in getting the whole thing going!

He was inventive when it came to obtaining money, the IRA hired him for fundraising. Kidnapping, banks etc.
