Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Amazing what you can do in photoshop these days ;)

Is that benchrest or standard - nice shooting either way?

I'd never get the circles that good in photoshop :)

Prone target rifle: the competition in Rathdrum on Sunday that Conor was blaming for his sore elbow.

I've a sore elbow as well, but it's funny how it doesn't hurt as much when you've one of those :D

Didnt realise you did outward scoring for this. Was it NSRA rules or something?

I've my first go on the Megalinks when I shoot in UCD on Sunday morning - can't wait!

I think strictly speaking it was NTSA rules, but NSRA rules would be a good approximation.

I don't think there are any ISSF rules for 25yd/25m rifle, I could be wrong.

Didnt realise NTSA even had non-ISSF disciplines. Makes sense it was outward scoring I suppose given the accuracy of a prone .22 at 25m.

Meh... you had some squeakers! ;)

    Thats excellent shooting Kealan.

Damn, I thought you put up my standard pistol 10 second target. :D:D:D:D

Thanks. I'll take it, squeakers and all seeing as it's my first competitive one in nine years! That ton was in the middle of a run of 14 tens, so I'm pretty pleased with it. The worst shots were one 9.3, three 9.4's and a 9.5. The group was nice and tight around the ten ring, so I'm working on tightening that up some more.

    99's are a killer :(

But if you don't like squeakers, here's a prettier one :)

His mpi isn't as central as mine :) but his shots sure are tighter :D

It's an NSRA target, so the scoring is as per NSRA rules. The rest of the game is ISSF. The outward gauging makes it very tough to get tons, but we had three on Sunday.

Well you've shot electronic before, so it's no biggie from that point of view, but to be shooting for the first time in Ireland on electronic...

It's fantastic to see it becoming the norm here, it's funny because in the U.S. they have very few electronic ranges and we have two now. Bring it on!

Very good Zaraba, looked really good, pity I couldn't make it, but I was tied up on our own range all day as it turned out.

Time to get some other slackers to do a bit methinks.

Any sign of the results? How'd you get on with your new shiny FWB?

Some confusion over the results.. I imagine they will find there way on to the NTSA website in due course.

I was happy enough - lack of stamina cost me a bit but the rifle is sweet!

Yes they would - if they had the mile of danger area behind the range or the baffles needed.

I can only speak for ranges I've been on both military and civilian. If you did that you're arse would be very sore for a long time :o

You can baffle for that quite easily. You can place baffles within 3 metres of the shooter so long as they're angled. Some ranges have these built into the roof of the firing point and the shooter is back three metres or more from the baffle/roof.

You then build another baffle further downrange so that the entire angle above the sightline is baffled. That way, no shot released above the sightline can leave the range.

Most ranges here don't have that setup, so yes your arse would be kicked and rightly so if you did it.

Thought I'd fire up some pictures of my Anschutz 1807L in a free rifle stock. Shot a personal best 94 yesterday with it. Not particularly good to most here, but I'm damnably happy with it right now. :)

You don't need the PC to run a training competition. Have a look at our forum.

The rifle is a Tanner, doesn't say what model. It does illustrate what those ISSF 300m guns can do though. :)

Sighters from a recent 50m match. Top left was the first shot out of the barrel, then the group in the middle without changing the sights. Wind was fiddly, so I put six or so in that group to make sure I had my adjustments nailed. Looks like it was okay. :Dth_Image010.jpg
If only the rest of the match went so smoothly...

Those fives or tens there FLOYDSTER? Either way, stonking shooting. Looks like you like that new gun. IRLConor and Mike will have your arm off at the elbow for it I'd say.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,244 ✭✭✭rrpc

Eh, you know those targets are inward gauging Floydster? You don't have to get them all inside the ring to score tens :D

Nicest groups I've ever seen, what ammo was it?

I recall him using Centre-X he got in Germany a while back, might still be on that batch. The Centre-X I'm using is brilliant stuff as well, best ammo I've had so far.

LOL!! , only 5 shot groups outdoors today from the shoulder prone, although outdoors at Comber I'd be happy with 5x 10.1's :D

Never met a ten yet that I didn't like. ;) If you want a real challenge, come to Fermoy next week. Tricky range, but very nice indeed.
