Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So the H1 car market ended at 82,337 which is up 25% on the same period last year. June actually finished down slightly against last year as the dual reg plate concept finally gets traction with customers.

Top ten makes are as follows:
    1. VW 10416 2. Toyota 8886 3. Ford 7962 4. Hyundai 7558 5. Nissan 7355 6. Skoda 5110 7. Opel 4785 8. Renault 4099 9. Kia 3729 10. Audi 3364

Top ten models are as follows:
    1. Golf 4127 2. Focus 3017 3. Qashqai 2707 4. Octavia 2509 5. Corolla 2462 6. IX35 2350 7. Fiesta 2268 8. Passat 2141 9. Yaris 1920 10. Sportage 1780

If you want any more brands/models let me know. In July after one day already the market is up 44% already which is big!

    Anyone seen a 152 yet?

Could you give the same details but with figures on what number of these were petrol cars sold for a comparison?

I've been wondering if the xx1/xx2 plate was going to have much impact on used car prices.

Looking at 131 and 132 cars, there appears to be little difference in values but I feel that it'll be more significant going forward.

For example, consider someone that normally buys a new car, keeps it for 3 years and then sells it. That being the case, someone buying a 152 plate will be selling it when 182 plates are released.

With that in mind, there will be 6 years worth of dual-plate vehicles on the market at resale time. The dual-plate system will be pretty mainstream at that time and I feel that the difference in resale value between xx1 and xx2 plates will be more significant.

For that reason, I feel that it's good advice to hold off on purchasing new cars in the later part of the first half of the year going forward - much better advice than it would have been in past years.

Would anyone else be in agreement?

For me a 151 or 152 is just a 2015 car, if I was buying one new it would be January or February to get the most value out of the first years depreciation.

How come the number of Golfs is 10416 when only 3807 VWs were sold?

Either I'm missing something or the numbers don't make sense. :confused

Edit: thanks for the figures BTW, very interesting!

I'd imagine there's a 1 missing from the front of the VW sales.

I picked this up yesterday. there were a couple of other deliveries, but apparently its spaced out more in July, versus the mania of January deliveries.

Over 6100 cars registered yesterday, versus 4200 odd for the 1st July last year. Looks like 152 off to a strong start

I saw a lovely CD plated 151 BMW 535i Luxury last week.

One guy being driven by a driver. West African looking chaps, not sure which African countries have embassies here but they're not worried about depreciation anyway. Can't be shifting too many 535is here these days.

May well have been an S-Line as I didn't pay too much attention to it. Noticed the badge alright...and the relative silence as it passed by:pac:

    Company car so...explains the decision.

152 Mayo cars were in the 70's as of this morning, seen a few registered Fords at the dealers this morning, lined up, ready for collection. It's a high number for the first day or two

There are massive delays on Vans full stop. Huge demand throughout Europe is far exceeding production capabilities.

I've 2 Kangoo Maxi's on order since the 23rd December which only arrived in to the country last week, and I've 2 special build Transit Customs on order since 30th Jan that aren't due to be built until the 17th July and we only got that build date due to escalating the situation to Ford Europe.

My Ford dealer won't sell a Transit unless he can physically see it as delay's are pi$$ing off too many people at this stage.

Opel vans are about the only ones coming through in a decent time.
