I know man, only found that out an hour ago, apparently it's been out since the end of April

The Killer Mike album is SICK, probably EL-P's most accessible beats so far, they're still so layered though, and Mike is on form throughout; definitely is best rapping since 2008

I've listened to about half of El-P's album, the intro beat is incredible, and Exquire murders his guest verse on "Hail No"

There's a set of linear notes just released for the C4C album....get your zoom on though!

I havent had a chance to listen to either C4C or R.A.P. Music yet, hopefully towards the weekend I'll get there. But I havent been this excited about 2 albums....well 3 including Aesop Rock, in a long time.

Unless someone wants to take some of my backlog of work from me??? Any takers?

It depends on how much you pay. I'll only do it for €20/hour.

Don't forget Killer Mike and Big Boi are going to be releasing an album together as well. That has amazing potential. Could be an album of the year contender in whichever year it gets released.

Agreed, it's probably the best El-P produced album since The Cold Vein in my opinion and Killer Mike..........well kills it!

Heard this song just there now. Pretty good song. His album's coming out soon. He's on Tech N9ne's label and he makes an appearance on it. Think Hopsin is on one of the tracks as well.

Oh and I saw that POS from Doomtree is finished his album. No name or date on it yet. Hopefully we'll hear more details when Doomtree finish up their tour at the end of this month.

not a bad one from obie, get rich or die tryin its called obvious mention of g unit with that song title.

Pushing yayo, the young buck in the game, trying to get my 50 cents up and a name moving G units, getting my banks of the use.

I like that line. Surprised it has not been used before actually.

Is this a new song? 2012?.

Looking forward to the Ab-Soul album that's out tomorrow, haven't heard anything from it, (bar one track, that I can't remember the name of) but I'm hearing great stuff about the released material :)

The Killer Mike & El-P album is in steady rotation, Reagan and Don't Die back to back is the high point in hip hop for me this year.
I can't believe how on point Mike and El-P's point about sounding like Ice Cube and Bomb Squad circa 1988-1991 was, that's exactly with this album reminds me of

Royce said something similar on his album, can't think of the exact lyrics right now though..

Was at the Brother Ali show last night in London and it was amazing. He done 4 songs from his new album and all I can say is wow, its gonna be dope. One of the beats Jake One has produced is so sick, I think i just had the gasface the whole way through.

I'm still trying to arrange to get to one of the shows and to a Doomtree show next week. How were Grieves & Budo?

The new Brother Ali track produced by Jake One is excellent, Ali is really attacking in his delivery. Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color is one not to be missed this year I reckon.

I've given Killer Mike & El-p's R.A.P. Music a few spins now and I have to admit, it's excellent. I thought that after hearing Big Beast a few weeks ago that the rest of the album couldnt top that, but it does. Mike sounds so good over P's beats, such a natural fit. Big Beast is the perfect opening for the record as well.
The things I love about the album, it's versatile, all differnt types of songs and it's not long, no boring parts.
It's constant entertainment throughout, with lyrically and musicly loads to hear.

I saw on Koncept's Twitter there that he's putting out an EP with J57 himself next month. Should be great.

Also him and Soul Khan might be coming back to the UK in Autumn for another tour I suppose.

    40,000 1st week
Shady Records are a terrible label for doing promo

Yeah I don't know either. You would imagine with the label they are on now they might sell really well considering they are easily one of the best groups out now.

not a hope they'l see past 100'000 anyway, i say between 50 and 70k 1st week. Album will never see gold.

had a listen to ab souls new album the other night, shocking imo. very letdown by it , 1st piece of rubbish iv heard from black hippy so far.

I hope so too. They are all amazing rappers, even though I know more of Crooked I and Royce than the other two.

Really? I just downloaded Schoolboy Q Setbacks to see what the rest of Black Hippy have to offer.

Also, Dj Yella is supposing to be releasing and album this year. "West Coastin'" Summer 2012.

New DMX EP dropping tonight. Really looking forward to it but the Dre and Snoop track is actually dreadful. It's like whoever photoshopped the ep cover just remixed some x snoop and dre. And this is the 1st official single so kind of afraid what the rest is like.

i wouldnt buy it anyway not a hope, this is the only song id call class.

im as big a black hippy fan as anyone hear, being preaching them for ages now well before they started to blow up like they are now but i have to be honest , its a letdown.

this is a banger but thats it imo, 2 or 3 average songs followed by rubbish.

man that dmx track is horrible, still think he'll come with a bit of heat though. he needs this mixtape to do well and create a bit of a buzz, the single with mgk never got of the ground.

Yeah ok thanks. Yes I would hardly call you a liar on it as you seem very big into all of the black hippy stuff not just K Lamars stuff.

I will give it a miss and actually buy section.80 and some other stuff.

I don't really like what I have heard of Ab Soul anyway, he is more G rap than Lamar. I don't really like his style a lot anyway. But sure I said the same for Kendrick Lamar!!!! So who knows.

That DMX is pretty bad sounds like it was mixed with fruity loops by a 12 year old non hip-hop fan.

you might like it man, thats just my opinion on it. if its a choice between section 80 and control the system, its section 80 all day. Usually stuff grows on me too like lamars recipe single but i really just cant get into control the system.

ab soul is very much a hate him or love him, his content is not everyones cup of tea but he is a good rapper and has a fair few nice songs but like most hyped artists these days he's seemed to fall where it matters most his debut album.

none of them have or probably ever will come close to section 80 bar lamar himself. there all talented , lamar and schoolboy being the most talented imo but this is the 2nd album i haven't felt from them the other being jay rocks debut which was very forgettable.

also j.cole confirmed yesterday that a collab with lamar is 100 per cent happening and that they have a bit of material recorded already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 764 ✭✭✭horsebox09

I'm not too sure what to think of Ab-Soul's album yet, I'll definitely need to give it few more spins, at the moment I'm still addicted to Killer Mike's new lp :pac:

Track Two, Pineal Gland, Terrorist Threat and Illuminate are all awesome though

Yeah, I might like it and I might "try before I buy" like I did with section.80 but I really feel like I should buy section.80 it is just that good I feel I have to buy it even though it was kinda sorta released as free at first?

I can't wait for that collab. J Cole makes some absolute banging beats (I am still very very so so on his rapping).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

He is quite different in style to Lamar. Perhaps you don't agree.

Although I think I am mixing up Ab-Soul with Jay Rock and/or Schoolboy Q they are way more gangsta. Yeah I am definitely mixing them up.

Ye as far as i know it was released as a free mixtape at first and was available for free download on the likes of daftpift, for what ever reason back then it slipped my attention and I only ended up hearing about it as a studio album via iTunes.

I use to be big into jay rocks stuff, he was kind of the original flagship artist for black hippy. It's amazing how Lamar has just took his lead, even schoolboy IMO has a bigger buzz than jay rock. If you havnt listened to schoolboy you should give him a try, great rapper. You'll probably notice his delivery with his bars straight away, it's always on point, possibly his biggest asset.

But Ye I think you should buy section 80 too, defeintly a modern classic. Just hope lamars debut can better it or least get close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

I will listen to all of them. Literally 20+ albums in my queue easily already though. Ye I hope his debut and/or the Cole collab are anywhere near it aswel.

Ye it's hard going to make room for new artists sometimes. For me most of the time 1st impression is everything, il give 1 or 2 songs a listen and if im not not someway interested by then that's it.

Very fickle when it comes to music.

Me too usually, luckily I have given people a second chance though.

Krs-One, PE, 50, Kanye and Kendrick Lamar all had either meh or bad first listenings for me so I am lucky I gave them a second (3rd, 4th...) listen.

There is just so much new music lately that is worth listening too, which is great.

X didn't disappoint me with this song, produced by Dre too.
Still have to listen to the rest of the EP, if it goes along these lines it's class
