Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why are leg Doms worse than any other?

I don't think I've hated an inanimate object (stairs) this much ever.

Higher proportion of slow twitch fibres = more work = more pain.

Also.. you just use your legs more for stuff.

Ab DOMs hurt so bad I can't sit up to get out of bed. Just roll until I hit the floor and get up from there

Ok what are DOMS? I'm assuming it's the muscle soreness after workouts?

    Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,840 ✭✭✭✭Dtp1979

I always find it sorest 2 days after the workout.

That's where the Delayed element comes in.

Should you always get Doms after the workout? I find it's so much worse after getting back to training after a layoff. Once I get back into the swing of things it isn't that bad. Is that the norm?

Yeah it will always hit you harder after a layoff and when you're training regularly it's less likely to happen.

    Split squats though...

Sometimes I get no soreness at all, is that simply because I didn't work hard enough?

No. Soreness isn't an indicator of hard work.

No I don't think it should be used as a measure of hard workouts

I tried some air squats in my new shoos. holy moly i can nearly sit on the ground in them
    can't wait to gym!

No. Soreness isn't an indicator of hard work.

Apparently mcmuffins are free in mcdonalds this morning. Is that a fair price for them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,510 ✭✭✭runawaybishop

anything with free bacon is worth it.

Ah yeah, a couple of mcmuffins to start your day is hopping on the gains train imo. Sweet stodgy tasty calorie city.

There are scientific papers correlating the links between burritos and gainz.

You're trying too hard, I bet you secretly love big mac's.
Boojum is alright, but nothing special imo. It's just the first (only?) decent mexican in Dublin.

Same way there a lack of thai or japanese places. I think back on in the day your weren't allowed to open anything other than a chinese.

I'd love a place to get a decent teriyaki bowl during the day or post workout. Too many nasty burrito places popping up

It is weird that Japanese places are limited (and crazy expensive) but I wouldn't say the same about thai.
I can't do a bicep curl around Dublin 6 without hitting a thai takeout.

Pablo Picante is miles better than Boojum imo. €6.50 student deal isn't bad, but their burritos are incredible.

From a former Pablo enthusiast I can confirm that this is factually incorrect. Boojum is better. To be honest, Pablo's isnt even the 2nd best burrito in Dublin.

    Tuzo's takes that mantle

Tuzo is horrible. Boojum is significantly better than tuzo that 2nd place might as well be last

Used to be a big Pablo's fan but now I prefer boojum.

Mate of mine was getting the paleo box in Pablos and filled up his loyalty card. When he went to get a free one they charged him extra for the paleo box.
    Bad form.

Clarence just posted a training montage (disappointed he didnt use 80s rock / rocky IV theme)

Finishes up with a 270kg paused squat, no belt, no wraps, no fúcks!

He's also within 5-10% of a medal in the 94kg at the Olympics which is staggering

he'd be cutting 6 or 7 kilos then so his numbers would drop,he says he's not interested in competing but i'd say if he was going to he'd be going for 105kg

Doubt he is genuinely uninterested in competing.
