confirmed that the monster draw will be put back 2-3 weeks and made at half time during a friendly with LOI champs shams who need gametime with their european exploits extending their season. Just waiting FAI confirmation
so if you want tickets and a chance to be rewarded! €5,000 for first & more

pretty much (as far as i know) other than the cost of getting azzurri to make them. the black away strip is really nice. The mark up isnt too high either as there is only so many made at a time, so higher costs

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭AidySevenfold

Just be careful man. Seasons ended, jerseys might not even be in stock!
I think it would be a better idea to buy a few monster ticket draws instead. Club recieves all money off this. Just advising :)

Sad to see and hopefully Harps get through this. The Finn Harps v Sligo Rovers rivalry seems like distant history now. Hopefully we'll see those days again in the Premier division.

What I dont understand is why they had to wait until a mere 6 weeks away from their deadline before announcing to the world that they are in dire need of cash.

Because thats when the accounts for the year are known, and then know how much is needed to run the club for the following season. A simple estimate of how much was in and out for the year wasn't accurate enough of course.

Monthly if not weekly accounts would be kept so that's not the reason.

thought id just give an update after some good news today
for those who bought monster draw tickets, the shams game isnt going ahead so the draw will take place at the annual awards night on december 3rd.
Donegal co co voted to make a contribution today which brings us past the 30k mark. around 16,000 still to go but 16k in 3 1/2 weeks sounds better than 48k in 6 weeks.
various other fundraisers coming up now, along with things like a last man standing comp and entry to the weekly club draw for a year for 100e donation etc

Finn Harps are launching a new Schools program which will involve a limited number of Primary Schools in Donegal signing up to a two year program. This will involve Coaching, Healthy Eating and Social Inclusion programs etc.

Details HERE if you'd like to see your local school involved.

It'd be great to see a nice spread through the region.. applications must be in before the 17th :)

FINN HARPS CONFIRM ALL FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE CRITERIA SUBMITTED FOR 2012 LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

I was honestly very worried that the club was on the way out this time, delighted with this :)

Hopefully we can build the club up to be the all-conquering smiters of all-comers that is our right and proper place in the world.

squad looks like its starting to take shape for the year, good forward line but not too sure who will be supplying them. although new signing clarke seems highly rated.
    Goalkeepers:
    Ciaran Gallagher

    Defenders:
    Keith Cowan
    Aaron O'Hagan
    Ciaran Coll
    James Doherty
    Hugh Carlin (dergview)

    Midfielders:
    Tommy Bonner
Barry O'Mahoney (sligo but on loan here for half the season)
    Adam Clarke (limavady)
Ciaran Greene (not sure who he hes left ex sligo, letterkenny rovers)

    Strikers:
    Kevin McHugh
    Stephen O'Donnell
    Blain Curtis
    Chris Breen (limerick)

in less good news seems the recent storms has taken down the scoreboard and one of the floodlights. may or may not be covered by insurance as it might only cover public liability and player injuries. repair could be anywhere from 2-10k. manufacturers and instalation companys have been in along with an FAI and local engineer so will have to see on that

Looking forward to the new season. We have a strong strikeforce and a comfortable backline. Like most Harps fans I'm worried about the midfield. Plenty of time to sort it yet but we really do need about 3 more midfielders and possibly a defender or 2 yet.

Stevie O Donnell proved last year though that he can be played in midfield and Felix has used both Blain and Chris Breen on the wings before, though I feel Blain is at his best up front.

It's a pity the game tonight V The Curragh was postponed.

    Up the Harps!:D

great article in the donegal news about when the harps went to america in 1973 and took on the likes of the NY cosmos. well worth a read.

little piece from felix as to how preseason is going also
usual draw for the back of shirt sponser also taking place at 50e entry

also to quote FBTN on the harps forum about the stadium
Lads, there has been an awful lot of work done on the new ground of the new stadium this past few months. Filling, levelling, founds, drainage etc has been completed as far as I know.

The actual steel structures for the stadium itself will be going up in a matter of weeks. Once that happens we'll try and get regular pics up online.

    edit
oh yea 1 more thing, 2 harpers are in the ireland u 18 squad Ryan Curran, Cathal McDaid. Dean Bonner would have been there as well but for an broken ankle. 2 more on the stand by list also in Shane McGinty and Dean McConnell so well done lads!

new jersey, minus daisi, what do yas reckon?

    edit- better pictures here
schools programme also launched, fran gavin invited "the attending schools to the ireland czech game as guests", wonder if all schools had at least one in attendance there are they going to offer up all 5000 tickets:D

Nice to see a few Harps lads get a chance to play for Ireland.. could easily have been more as well.

Cathal McDaid started for Ireland U18 and scored their only goal of the game with a fiercely struck low shot, putting Ireland into the lead in the first half only for late Welsh goals to rob the home side of the spoils as multiple substitutions caused the game to lose its shape.

Ryan Curran of Harps came on on 75 minutes. Dean Bonner had also been in the squad but had to withdraw due to injury, while Shane McGinty and Dean McConnell were in the standby list for the fixture.

thought id post it here, looks like theres a supporters bus heading to the limerick game on friday if anyone is interested... nigel hegarty is organising it if you want to give him a shout. thread for it on the harps forum if your not on facebook... bus is from the wrong part of the country for me so dont know much more.

    loi is finally back!:D
    team tonight

    Gallagher
    Doc, Tommy, Keith, Greene
    Carlin, Hagey, McBride, Coll
    Blain, Kev

    subs:
    Patton, O'Mahoney, Bonner, Clarke, Healy

harps radio isnt going tonight unfortunately:( so updates on extratime
    still come on the harps
    ________________________

finished 2-1 to limerick, Cowan was taken away in an ambulance at half time so hopefully he is alright... sorry he wasnt taken away, but spent some time in it, has to have an xray in the morning
    Clarke with Harps' goal.
Limerick were well on top first half but second we got back into it and Limerick were running to the corner trying to run down the clock by the end, great effort by the lads and we almost could have got something. Considering limerick are expected to walk the league (+17pt handycap to second favourites, 38 to ourselves) its a decent result

    and match report

Cowan is out for 6-8 weeks. Disappointing.
Poor enough match itself, but really enjoyable trip.

one hell of a game in Finn Park, Harps 3-2 up against a 10man Mervue at half time. McHugh with 2 goals to bring his tally to 150 for the Harps.
Harps Radio with its first broadcast of the season

my god i wish i wasnt stuck in dublin:(
(supporters bus to athlone next week if anyone is interested in some more entertainment;), scroll up 4 posts, same details as last time)

    Up the Harps!:)
they said 748 on the harps forum tonight which is a great attendance, with 7 goals for their money hopefully they will all be back and more!

so lets keep it up next week, bus to athlone on friday, about a dozen spots left, if its filled it will be about 10e return! currently around the 15e mark. leave a message on one of the main harps facebook group or people pages. (il point ya in the right direction if ya pm me too)
Leaving Letterkenny (Mr.Chippee) 3.30 and Ballybofey (Finn Park Navenny Entrance) 4pm, Donegal Town (By-pass beside Lidl) 4.40 and Ballyshannon (Car-park at Abbey Centre) 5pm. - All estimated times.

makes all the difference to the players, mcHugh sent this to the forum after the limerick game
Just to thank all the fans who travelled down to Limerick and sang from the 1st to last minute, and really got behind us, really made a difference to the teams performance.

Talking to players on bus on way home I got the vibe from all of them that fans created that extra buzz on the pitch, so well done to all involved and hope to see them at more away games and obviously create same atmosphere at home too and help make Finn Park a tough place to come too.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Away to Athlone tonight.. Paddy Power can't separate the sides, each at 6-4 which illustrates how hard this is to call.

If we can sort out our vicious bouts of defensive head staggers we should be OK. There's a bus load of Harps fans going down plus all the usual strays so there should be lots of backing for the team and it should be good fun.

Might be able to cover it on Harps radio if we can get internet down there, but can't promise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,223 ✭✭✭overshoot

wizzy was back in the harps jersey for the friendly against bonagee on sunday (harps won), looks like he wil be signing. will be very handy addition to the squad. Breen's injury looks like its going to keep him out for a long while so im guessing this freed up some money. himself and mcbride in midfield would be a good boost. with cowan back it would be a pretty good starting XI

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭Mr_A

Yeah. We need to tighten up defensively- we're leaking goals depressingly easily. Very disappointing performance in Athlone, yet we could easily have won the game with the chances we had.

Same old Finn Harps roller coaster for another year it seems.

yea the first was suicide, second came from a stupid free. there was the 3 great chances that we should have scored but pitch was really awful and didnt suit at all, only time the ball bounced was when it landed in the tunnel.
thanks for the lift from the olive by the way!

savage result there by the wee harps. 3-0, putting them 5 clear at the top of the table from dundalk (with the game in hand too) and 7 clear of Derry. chance finish the job at Fanad next is it? (report)
hopefully the seniors were watching and picked up some defensive points for tonight. the wee harps have conceeded the same amount of goals in 15 games as the seniors in 3!

Desperately need to get the show back on the road against Mayo League tonight. At least we're making chances.. but it's a short season and we'll be well adrift if we don't start taking them soon.

    As for our defending

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,223 ✭✭✭overshoot

job done and a clean sheet. Wonder will Hutton play in waterford now after starting tonight?
Waterford 6-1 demolition by UCD may also work in our favour... but then again they lost 6-0 to wexford and came back to beat limerick

hopefully sligo or derry in round 2, shame fanad conceeded the 2 goals in injury time, they would have given us the best chance in the next round

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,223 ✭✭✭overshoot

great result for harps down in waterford, especially after what happened to ciaran (got treatment on the pitch fro 20mins & was supposed to be out cold for a bit but its looking like the only lasting effect is a concussion, thank god). 16 year old patton came in and saved a penalty along the way (has 11 clean sheets from 15 for the u19s). off point ; the u19s can win the league on monday with a few games to spare if anyone is up in fanad on monday!
young paul simon tracey also stepped up also after o'donnells injury getting a goal and put in the corner for the og too.
good thing we brought in 39 year old peter hutton to stabilise the defence keep the age average uppacman.gif

Holy jeepers, what a result! Harps beat table toppers 3-1 Longford on their own patch.

Another match tomorrow as the U19s seek to wrap up the title against bottom of the table Longford.

On a serious buzz here after a crappy day :D
