Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Abhainn through half in 1:18, looking good for a pb.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,307 ✭✭✭T runner

Abhainn running consistently at 2:36:25 pace.
    RR at 2:39:30 pace.

Lelisa (former DCM winner), Kipsang and Kirui clear on WR pace.
    Makau dropped out!

Keitany is clear for a probable win.

The boards lads through 20k: Robin slighly slower 10-15k split: hopefully next split will stabilise.

Abhainn 1:18:03 for half. RR 1:19.41

Abhainns in great shape to meet his target and in with a great shout of sub 2:36. RR on target with all to play for.

    Keitany home and dry.

Hallisey and murray having a bgreat battle for potential last British spot.

SEcond half a lot faster in female race. Great stuff!

    Kipsang clear..looking imperious

ASfter 30k: Abainn on for 35:30 RR for 2:38:30
Slighly slower 5k splits for both but it was a slow split for the leader also.

    Next 5k is vital.

Just 10 secs each slower that split which is excellent. Theyll be digging deep now.
Village going steady. Robin slowling a little....not far now though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,307 ✭✭✭T runner

    Kipsang should break record

Kirui, Lelisa tiring badly. Lilesa may be caught for 3rd by Kedebe

    Lel is with Kebede!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,307 ✭✭✭T runner

Kipsang wins: misses record by 3 secs!

Kirui is dying...now in 4rd. Lilesa also. Kebeda or Lel for 2nd. Sprint finish.....Lel is a legend!

This puts Geoffrey Mutai back in the picture...maybe even Mosop.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,546 ✭✭✭Peckham

robinph also slowing towards the 30k split. Projected finish drops to 2:56, which would still be a great 3 minute PB so long as he can hold out.

Abhainn through 35k in 2:09:11. Predicted finish 2:35:44.
    C'mon Joe!

DermCU also through 35k in 2:14:32, for a 2:42:11 predicted finish. Very tasty!

Abhainn through 35k in 2:09:11. Predicted finish 2:35:44.
    C'mon Joe!

Those long steady runs with no water and energy will kick in for Abhainn now. He'll have the energy and looks like hell have the legs.

RR is having a blinder. They can smell the finish now.

Edit| 40k: sub 2|:36 and 2:39 still on for both lads. A finsih around tehse times will be two savage runs

gotta go run this now , bit less full on than london

    but to quote Patrick Kavanagh

    gods make their own importance.

At least wont have matt bidwell to compete with, he's on his way to the finish
    in london

    He's through 40k. 2:27:58, for a predicted 2:36:05.
Very little can stop him now, from attaining a superb result and massive PB.

DermCu just at 40k. Looks relatively fresh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,307 ✭✭✭T runner

Early pace hurting Robin now, just needs to run in steady. Village having a strong run on about 2:52:30 pace

    Abhainn: 2:36:21!!!

    DermCu: 2:43:22. Cracking run.
Just outside his target, but a tasty PB nonetheless.

    Abhainn: 2:36:21!!!

A great end to a great training schedule and effort.
theRoadRunner: 2:38:37. Stonking run for a man having a jog!

Id imagine thats a better performance than his Berlin PB (looking at the splits). He knows how to squeeze the best from himself: a serious sub 2:30 effort must be on the horizon.

3 hr pacers past me there. No sign of Robin yet but could have missed him.

Opus: 2:54:38. Nicely inside his 2:55 target. Well done that man!

Did I just see Robin coming over the finish line with James Cracknell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,017 ✭✭✭Itziger

Opus 2.54, tough last 10 k it seems. Must have finished around the time of that Nell McAndrew one they were showing on BBC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,533 ✭✭✭✭Krusty_Clown

Village Runner: 2:52:25. A really superb improvement over the last two months.
Must try that Village Runner diet one of these days. Well done VR!

    Unlikely.
Cracknell finished in 2:59, and I think Robin is on f0r 3:07+.

Nell McAndrew running 2:54 at age 38 is a really fantastic performance (previous PB 3:08), for a former super-model.

Tough day in the office for Robin, finishing in 3:08:04. Unlucky mate, you'll hammer it next time. Enjoy the beers.

theRoadRunner: 2:38:37. Stonking run for a man having a jog!

Thanks lads. I can assure you that did not feel like a jog. Can't believe I've ran that time I was in trouble early on. Amazing what a few HTFU can do ;) Legs are fcuked now, they've ran a time that they haven't trained for recently. Will take a while to recover from this. In the meantime I'm about to crack open my second can of fosters, on the knacker in her majestys garden with Robin at the moment :)

Fair play to Abhainn. Savage time. Got what his training deserves. He's doing great things for the elderly ;) I know I'm opening myself to abuse but I couldn't resist :)

Shels4ever crossed the finish line in 4:27:32, missing out on his goal, but a cracking run all the same. Well done Shels!
Turning off the ticker-tape machine now. The lads are all home. Well done all.

Well done all the lads. All efforts deserve something a bit more upmarket than fosters!

Hmm can you be both happy & disappointed at the same time with a result? Was aiming for 2:52ish & was well ahead of target 'til the last 10k when the muscle on my right thigh began to seize up. Final 5k was particularly torturous even coming to the finish my brain was screaming "Sprint!" but my leg was having none of it :) Ended up just ducking under 2:55 for a new pb.

That's a new one on me, maybe the pace was too fast or maybe it was the alignment of the planets, who knows!

Still no complaints, it was a lovely day, the atmosphere was just fantastic and just about to head in the direction of town now for a few beers :)
