Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    If you quote and reply to one another a lot, it weights it heavily, but PMs do count too if memory serves. I think for fun we deliberately biased it against people in your friends list too.

    As I said, it was so long ago at this stage and it was Conor that did all the work - the rest of us laughed at what a master stroke for an April Fools idea it was :)

    It's a cool feature to have on boards though. It's kinda funny trying to figure out by someones username whether they're male or female. Boards, Now Ye're lovin' :D

    It was a purely April Fools exercise, I sincerely hope things would never get that bad that we'd have to consider it as a proper feature! :p

    Ah no, we've no intention of getting rid of it, it's great that people still get a kick out of it and with it being dynamically generated, it'll be different as time goes on.

    It was a points system.

    If you are user A and I'm calculating the matching score for you with user B:
    3 points for each time user A thanked user B
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding any user B who hasn't been active in the last 6 months
    6 points for each time user B thanked user A
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding any user B who hasn't been active in the last 6 months
    1 point for each time user A replied to a thread started by user B
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding mod & admin forums
    Excluding threads over 6 months old
    2 points for each time user B replied to a thread started by user A
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding mod & admin forums
    Excluding threads over 6 months old
    1 point for each time user A PMed user B
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    For mods, excluding PMs to co-mods
    Excluding PMs over 6 months old
    2 points for each time user B PMed user A.
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    For mods, excluding PMs to co-mods
    Excluding PMs over 6 months old

    The points were added up and then adjusted to a 0-10 scale. 0 was 0 and 10 was the highest number of points by any person you matched with.
