    @dcully
You using PC? If PS3 - tell us how you modded the cockpit view...
I tried it but as you point out it's way too low. Would like to raise the perspective to the drivers eye rather than the bottom of his helmet.
Can't see how though - hence I wonder if your a PC driver...

Just got this. Will probably be burning the midnight oil with it.

Wow just started playing it and its even better than I had imagined it to be :D The sense of speed from the cars is excellent and now I just have to purchase myself a wheel.

For anyone looking for a steering wheel on a budget, have a look at http://www.zavvi.com/games/games-accessories/logitech-driving-force-ps3-wireless-steering-wheel/10074157.html .

Main issue with the wheel is the lack of foot pedals though.

Got this game yesterday and have been playing with that wheel. Excellent game so far but very unforgiving if you drop your concentration at all!!

Man this game is so hard im only playing on normal but cant get anywhere near the pack. Ill start in 24th battle my way up to 6th or 7th then ill have to pit ill come out in 24th and will spend the last 4 or 5 laps trying to catch the guy in 23rd to no avail. Im hoping that once i get into the career further that it will start to get easier.

That's a shame. The feature to change the cockpit view does not seem to be available on 360 (and I presume the PS3) versions. Although I'm sure it's very realistic, it is a bit low to see the road.

Loving this game atm, had a great 12 man session last nite with clan members.

I dont see how people can play with TC off tho ! :D

My only tip atm is to change your pitting strategy. There is usually a **** load of drivers coming in on the 4th lap (If your playing 10% thing, i think) so sometimes you get ****ed over and sometimes take 10-15 second pit stops, i tend to put my pitstop on after the 5th lap for a much clearer pit lane.

You should go mad and go for the opposite strategy and put primes on first and pit on lap 8 or 9! I learned this after I lost 2 places over a 9 sec pit stop!

Im playing with all driving ads off. NO ABS or traction control . Its so easy to spin if you hit the power a fraction to early. I think i will stick with no ads and try an get to grips with it. Its very rewarding when you get a great lap together but you have to be on the ball during the race as one spin and you are at the back of the pack and playing catch up. Is there anyone else driving with no ads?

The brake assistance is an absolute waste of time. I turned it off and my lap times dropped massively on some tracks (ie. Monaco)

  • Registered Users Posts: 355 ✭✭theShawzer

Getting pretty p****d off with the pit stops. Managed to get pole in Turkey in a Lotus(no idea how) and went into my pit in the lead, did a perfect pit stop and I didn't get released for 10 seconds after I was ready. Didn't release me into a big gap but waited another 5 seconds and released me into a smaller gap than the one before...

Well guys having spent a lot of time with the game this week i can confirm the game is absolutely riddled with bugs 30-40 major bugs reported on most of the community sites, everything from pitstop bugs to corrupt save files.
Also it looks like codemasters lied to us all too, they said the AI making mistakes would not be scripted, they are.
Also the lead dev guy admitted on his twitter that the AI dont even qualify its all just a random calculation.
Ive personally seen the AI in qualification in Spa qualify @ 1:19 totally totally unrealistic times.
Now we know why they didnt release any form of demo as at best the game is in beta form.

Codies have stated that they have planned a meeting first thing Monday morning to discuss the issues and a possible patch.

    Links to the tweets

    http://twitter.com/T4RG4/status/25443565012

    http://twitter.com/T4RG4/status/25443565012

Disgraceful they release a game in this state.
Pretty much every fansite and the official sites are in uproar.

Despite this the game has huge potential and im still enjoying it but ill admit the rubber band AI is a major turn off.

Back to the topic of custom cockpit views, yeah its only possible on the pc version.
Its not an actual feature in the game but its a manual editing of the game files that makes it possible.
Heres a quick video i made of my current custom cockpit view, graphics and sound quality reduced to keep the file relatively small to upload on my bog standard eircom line, god i wish we could get fibre in our area.
As always im running with no aids.

I have only been able to play this for about 45 mins so far since I got it but your post is certainly worrying. They are some shower. After the joke that was Operation Flashpoint, they have some neck to release a game in this state again. If they don't sort these problems VERY soon I'd like to think that they'll struggle to sell copies of future releases. Their software testing team would appear to be the general public.

One thing I have to ask is about the frame rate on the reflection on the cars? is it really slow for people?

its really smooth on this version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=537OS15Z5W0
but its quite sluggish on mine, I run mine in HD as well.

Despite the pit stop bug I'm really enjoying the game. Only done a few career races so far but spent most of my time online last night with CM forum members.

Racing with the wheel with no aids at all is fantastic. I'm getting more confident with the handling

One of the first things I noticed! Its bugging me how poor the PS3 version looks compared to the other platforms.

Is there anyway of seeing your best lap times on each course in career mode?

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭EireEV

Have many people been playing sprint mode on multiplayer?

Is there a boards psn user list for F1 so we can get a bit of competition going online?

When playing sprint mode are penalties enforced at all?? The number of times a car has just run in to either the side or back of my car causing me to spin and finish last as a result is incredible. Is anybody else having this problem?? Where's the fairness??

Also does anybody know how your XP and rank is calculated?

Can someone explain pitting to me..

For several races I've been in the top 3, I have to pit and usually rejoin somewhere between 20-24th! Can't get near the front again after that!

Is there something I'm missing :s

Do the other cars not pit also?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,073 ✭✭✭jamieh

Presume they do but whenever I seem to pit I come out last and gain very little places from there.

I don't modify the pit strategy, I just pit when I'm told to

    Hi All

Just came across this article on eurogamer. I'm sure you've all read it but it was certainly news to me:

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-22-codemasters-already-working-on-f1-2011

"Although Hood hopes to be able to do a free title update for the game ("I'd love to be able to do that"), the yearly cycle leaves Codemasters' Birmingham studio no time to produce any additional downloadable content for F1 2010, Jeal said."

"[We have the most work to do on] Live the Life and multiplayer, just because we've had to invest that much time in the first one on the career, the meat and bones, the driving, the pit-stops, the weather," Jeal said. "We had some great ideas which have been fairly well stripped back in development for both Live the Life and multiplayer."

Hood explained that the developers will take a more focused approach on the feature set for F1 2011 to ensure the game is more consistent.
"We're saying these are the core features, these are absolutely essential, the game will hang together if we have these things in. Everything else will be considered a bonus. That's what we haven't done in '10."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,184 ✭✭✭rameire

i read that as, this is a pre release interview.
now there are bugs popping up they have to spend time to fix some of the bigger ones.
fixing them will be part of the 2011 game.

I didn't notice any bugs myself. I don't know where are all them complaints coming from. Maybe once I have been stopped in pit stop for too long. Not a big issue. Most of the complaints are coming from the people who didn't spend to much time with this game anyway.

    My thoughts exactly.
The bugs are there, but you can live with them..

I find the game frustrating at times - it can be very unforgiving, however with time and effort you begin to make headway against the opposition as you learn the tracks, setup the car, etc.

No matter what bugs, or steep learning curve it has - I'm 100% addictive and nothing else is getting a look since I got it on day 1.

Just bought this for the PS3, I was gonna get the Ferrari wheel for €45. Is the wheel worth it and if so, is this the one I should get. Its the only one I saw in the shop.

I've seen that Ferrari wheel and don't rate it at all, too small and lightweight. Better to either hold on to your money or go spend a bit more and go for the Logitech GT mentioned above, IMO.

Would agree with this, got the Logitech DFGT when I got F1 and it's amazing fun and very good for the price. It is €100 in argos.

Quite like the game, haven't noticed any bugs on PS3.

One thing pees me off is that even though you cut a corner just a little bit or even when it gives you absolutely no advantage you get a warning or invalidated lap.

One thing that really f***ing p*SSes me off is the amount of a$$holes online that will just keep knocking you off the track and general unsportsmanlike like behavior is unreal. I've just blocked a couple of players that are just bullies.

Anyone else find this behavior online? Would love to drive with a few professional like players.

The sprint mode online is full of bashers and dicks! If ya try the GP mode there is a lot less arsehole because damage is on and the 15 min quali session usually gets rid of them, find it really hard to find a well populated lobby though!:(

Or ya could join a clan that plays F1!

I've yet to play online and I haven't played in a week or so cause I didn't have much time but I'd definitly be up for some proper racing.

But the whole bashing thing sums up exactly why it worries me that so many games are shifting their focus to online when half the people you meet are assholes. Guess it's just about finding the right people

Just been playing this today, its pretty good imo, after I learnt the Bahrain track on normal, I qualified in P1, and finished the race in P2. I find its quite unforgiving if you are driving hard, get on the power slightly hard and early with a bit of car on the curb and round you go. I don't see too much rhyme or reason to these spins, I apex the curb, get on the power hard and one time in ten I see the arse end of my car passing by. It means I have to drive at 90% during the race as the spins are too costly.

I had that problem for awhile but you just need to learn to easy onto the throttle on the way out of the corners. It gets easier after awhile but there usually a sting in the tail..........mostly on the last corner
