Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Everything seems to be going to plan so far.
    Hi thecommander,You have been looking for a good indicator of what You should do to optomise Your chance of seeing a Shuttle launch.The following has just been released on the NASA website{possible chance it could be superceeded by Obama's speech tomorrow or if the present problem on 131 in some way or the 132 payload difficulty ends up changing things}
    ALL times are in CDT which means SIX hours have to be added here in Ireland{I know regulars already know that,but always have to bear in mind people who are brand new to it all}
    As it stands May 3rd will help You decide what to do.

    NASA to Preview Final Scheduled Flight of Space Shuttle Atlantis

    HOUSTON -- NASA will preview the next space shuttle mission, the final scheduled flight of space shuttle Atlantis, during a series of news briefings Monday, May 3, at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. NASA Television and the agency's Web site will broadcast the briefings live. Reporters will be able to ask questions from participating NASA locations.

    Atlantis is targeted to launch May 14 on the STS-132 mission to the International Space Station. The shuttle will deliver the Russian-built Mini Research Module, also known as the Rassvet module, which means "dawn" in Russian, to the station. The flight also will deliver critical spare parts and cargo. Three spacewalks are planned during the 12-day mission. Following STS-132, two more shuttle flights remain scheduled.

    Ken Ham will command Atlantis. Tony Antonelli is the pilot. They will be joined by Mission Specialists Steve Bowen, Michael Good, Garrett Reisman and Piers Sellers.

    The schedule of briefings includes (all times CDT):
    8 a.m. -- Program Overview
    9:30 a.m. -- STS-132 Mission Overview
    12:30 p.m. -- STS-132 Spacewalk Overview
    1 p.m. -- STS-132 Crew News Conference

    Oh she does! I'll be sad to see her go. The way it's going i don't see STS-135 getting manifested so i'm treating STS-132 as her final hurrah.:(:(

    Leo , lets see what happens over the next few days .

    Thanks for that. So Monday 3rd May at 2pm is the tipping point then for the flights etc. I'll watch it live on Nasa TV and then start putting everything into motion. Nerve racking stuff, I'll have to try forget about it until then.

    Casueway tickets are goign on sale next Wednesday 21st, going to apply and try get 2. If not, Ill book a tour that'll bring me out on a bus, seems to be a great viewing point.

    The executive FRR on May 5th will be the final decision when an official date and time are set.

    It'd be a shame if they had to delay Atlantis because of STS-134. The processing flow has been brilliant,they're flying along with having Atlantis ready for STS-132.

    I know it would be no good to you but I hate the speed at which these last few flights are going at. I would like time to savour each one and look forward to the next but everything is happening together with these last few. Pity they would only fly every six months or so.:(

    I did feel like that but there'd be a certain element of dragging it out if they done that. I've got September in my head and once they go and come back safely then i'm happy.:)

    You are right of course. It will be nice to have all 3 home safely and retired to museums wher we can get to see them all up close. {Mrs Beeker is not going to be pleased about that little pilgrimage:D}
    I just don't want it all to end, it has been such a major part of my life since I was 13 that it will feel like a death to me:(

    I'll plan a little trip to see my baby Atlantis wherever she ends up. It'll be great to see her up close even if it'll be sad that she should be flying and not sitting in a museum.

    You're better off with the tour imo. I tried getting tickets online last november and causeway tickets were gone in seconds. Bought a KSC visitor centre viewing ticket as back up and ended up getting charged for 9!!!!

    Really? Im staying in Titusville the night before and after so thought it was a bit of waste of money paying for transport when we're 90% of the way there already.

    It's nearly quicker to get back to Orlando from KSC than it is to get to Titusville. Traffic is crazy on launch day. Thousands inside KSC and many more thousands at it's perimeter and Titusville and Cocoa Beach.

    I found the tour was great,no stress involved,just had to turn up.:)
